taffy2jeffmorgan Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Hi All. Has there been any mention of better radio communications in BoS/BoM, we have attack nearest enemy [A/A and A/G] but is this going to be refined, where you can instruct your wing-man to stay with you and go after the fighters, and the rest of the flight to go after the bombers ?. I cant see any mention of these commands from the on-screen info. I call up again and again to my flight [ Velikie Luki JG 51 ] who have all survived the mission, and tell them to regroup and return to base but there's never a reply ? And gestures ! are these retained from RoF ? alright on the ground, but not much use when your doing 400 mph. Cheers. JM.
Finkeren Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I expect (or rather hope) that we'll see some improvements in comms with the updated campaign mode that's coming with the new season maps. I don't think we'll see changes the commands themselves but likely improvements in how the AI react to them. I also seem to remember, but I'm not completely sure, hearing that the new campaign will offer you the opportunity to play campaign missions as a wingman rather than flight leader, which would propably mean, that the AI flight leader will start givving commands over comms.
Feathered_IV Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 The radio messages need a complete overhaul. For a good singleplayer experience I really think it is the most critical feature above all others that gives you that sense of being there and belonging to your environment. It's what sells the single player game. It needs to sound natural and avoid the maddening repetition of the current setup.

Me too. There's been plenty of feedback so hopefully a bit of it has a positive effect. The default campaign is still the flagship feature and crucial first impression of the game, as all players must use it to access the full range of an aircraft's weapons and features. 3instein Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 When the default campaign is the flagship feature and crucial first impression of this game, Then when you first hear the crap radio sequences sounding like being spoken with a bucket on your head, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the game. Mick.

But BoS is really lacking. No reply from wingmen when giving orders, unable to ask for landing clearance by yourself or declare an emergency...
Feathered_IV Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I've been trying to make good on CloD's horrible radio coms for some time now. I've found that apart from the basic wingmen replies to commands, it is much more effective with regards to player immersion to have as many ambient voice samples as possible. Replacing non-essential but repetetive samples with something more general that aims to help set the overall tone can be much more effective. Below is a replacement sample for the default "Stay_tight_I_ll_get_him.ogg" message. Having a couple of dozen different variations of this going throughout a fight can really get the blood pumping and I'd love to see something like it designed from the ground up in the BoS series. http://www.mediafire.com/listen/smlla887ccvcu88/Default_Project3.ogg 1
Maico Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I hope I am not "Hijacking" this thread... Voice Attack is awesome in 1946 and DCS but I cant use it here in BoS. It would be nice if this was fixed. The level of immersion that VA adds is incredible.
