Reflected Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Hi, I have a smaller HD for Windows, and a big one for everything else (BoS as well). These are physically separate drives. About a month ago it started to do something weird: Sometimes Windows stops recognizing the D drive (the big one). Sometimes it recognizes at startup but then forgets, sometimes everything is ok, sometimes it starts with only "C" being available. I've run a HD sentinel and everything seems to be healthy. Usually 1-2 restarts solves the issue. It's not consistent. Is my HD/ Motherboard dying? Any suggestions? Thanks, Greg
Dakpilot Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 As a precaution I would back up anything on that drive that is important, misbehaving recognising drives like that can always be a sign of future failure, and when it does really happen it always comes as a surprise Cheers Dakpilot

SYN_Vorlander Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 SSD Firmware update fixed mine a few weeks ago I did the Samsung EVO firmware update. Still the same. Will check again. Thanx Dan
Reflected Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 I opened the PC, and re-plugged the SATA cables, it's been OK for a day since. If it comes back again I might have to invest in a new HDD.
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) I did the Samsung EVO firmware update. Still the same. Will check again. Thanx Dan Yeah what I've read was that some ssd drives where losing power in a low power setting and cutting power to the drive all together after the update of the firmware it sorted it out My 2nd is a Crucial mx100 512gb so this may not be the case with other drives just check on drives website see if its been an issue.
