leitmotiv Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Downloaded, many thanks. I have been working on a Blenheim IV "Channel Stop" anti-shipping mission. I think I have the right balance to reflect the difficulty of these missions. Wish you could put light flak on fishing boat escorts as the Germans actually did.

I don't know how to do it for moving ships, but for stationary ships you just place it adjust the vertical offset to have them sit right on the deck. That is the easiest. Your escort ships will be stationary but if you place a couple along the path of the convoy, to the pilot they will look like part of the convoy that just stopped up to get a better shot. ST_ami7b5 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks, heinkill! Installed TF4.0 yesterday. Will D/L your missions for sure!
Uufflakke Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) These winter textures look fabulastic! Perhaps you guys are not gonna like what I say now but I have some doubts about the autumn version of the map. In my opinion the fields look too brown. To me colours resemble the dry inlands of Spain instead of the rainy English autumn with its bright green fields. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b3/LA_MANCHA_CONSUEGRA.jpg http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02386/stourhead-bridge_2386990k.jpg https://www.google.nl/search?q=autumn+in+England&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=RMNjUtzPHInH0QW2_oCIDA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=943#q=autumn+in+england+&safe=off&tbm=isch&imgdii=_ Edited October 20, 2013 by Uufflakke
heinkill Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) Don't disagree actually (and I have nothing to do with this development work, it's a Team Fusion effort). It's France in the screenshots but England looks similar and having just been in London and Manchester last week, it looks damp, muddy green more than brown and orange. But in the end, I have never really been hung up on this or that shade of green. There were also those who said the snow was too snowy. I just like having new maps! If they did one that looked like Mars, I'd design Mars missions... Edited October 20, 2013 by heinkill 1
AcesHigh Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Wow thanks, the winter textures do look great. Gives me a little more confidence about a winter map in BOS. I think I had the same concerns as Jason stated a winter map is just all white and boring, but you've shown that's not the case with these textures.
Uufflakke Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) I think I had the same concerns as Jason stated a winter map is just all white and boring When he refers to BoS by saying "a winter map is just all white and boring" he is right. BoS winter landscape looks bland and dull. Concerns me in a bit. On the other hand we have to take in consideration BoS is finished for 30 up to 35% at the moment so a lot can be improved before official release May 2014. The above COD screenshots show what can be done with snow textures. Also modded IL2 do have some interesting winter maps to offer. And what to think of the official winter Slovakia (textures by Maybug as far as I remember). These maps show that snow is more than just a white blanket. Edited October 20, 2013 by Uufflakke
heinkill Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) More snow... Edited October 20, 2013 by heinkill

Winder in Britain/France and the interior of Russia looks very different. The white blanket is actually quite realistic. I'm used to winters here in Norway, and they are usually of the white blanket type, The Empire strikes Back (2nd Star Wars movie) was shot here in Norway, and gives a fair impression of what a uninhabited and non-wooded landscape looks like with a 4-5 feet of snow.

I believe you immediately about the 4-5 feet of snow in Norway but Stalingrad/Volgograd is way more down south (red dot). Of course we have to take in consideration the difference between sea climat (Norway) and land climat (Stalingrad) which can be much colder. According the Red Army military situation reports winter was severe in that time frame in and around Stalingrad. But first 2 weeks of December 1942 there was occasionally snowfall/wet snow and rain and not that cold. Approximately a few degrees below zero. End of December/ beginning of January temperature was below -10 degrees Celsius. And the images I've seen from the Battle of Stalingrad there was snow but not huge piles of 4-5 feet. http://waralbum.ru/category/war/east/stalingrad/ Anyway, this topic is about Britain/France winter and not Stalingrad. @Heinkill: That last screenshot of your latest post is breath taking, jaw dropping, revolutionary, innovative, next gen! What's the size of these superb winter textures: 2048x2048 or 4096x4096 already?

Is simple, in FMB on Ship Properties tick "Skin" and in "Cargo Presets" drop down menu select the AAA available. http://i43.tinypic.com/14kigqq.jpg Sokol1
150GCT_Veltro Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 The hardcoded is a big problem (weather first of all.....) and this is more than a problem for a Battle of Britain sim...rain, fog, covered sky ecc. ecc. However, this update is a stunning release and now our 50 Euro wasted at the day one, are no more wasted. 1

heinkill Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Weather modelling with moving fronts is built into the game. Most scripters don't know or don't bother to use it. WIth TF4 cloud cover options are much more extensive. Still no rain tho...
