I unfortunately keep killing my Stuka's engine so I set it to 65% power and 80% prop pitch (which is barely enough power to stay airborne when its loaded with bombs) and it still dies on me. What am I doing incorrectly, as it shouldn't be dieing this easily?

I use 85 power / 85 prop for climbing and 75 power / 75 prop for level flight. I haven't blown my engine for a long time. Are you sure your radiator is open and you're not overheating?

The percentages don't really mean anything. If you just follow the engine operating limits I've posted in the manual, you'll be fine.

For continuous level flight my engine dies even at 65% power from the beginning of my campaign ie, when the AI sets power its at 100% so I immediately reduce it to 65% but it gets damaged before the drop zone is reached. I'm sure the rads for water and oil are 100% open, but i don't touch them cause they are on auto I assumed.

Ah huh I will look for the manual that sounds promising, it is on this forums?

Thank you so much LukeFF my frustration is resolved. I found a picture from another forum poster of each airplanes engine performance, it says to keep Stuka's rpm at below 2250 and ata 1.2. Now engine doesn't die, it can also maintain 300km/hr in a climb and missions can be completed, so happy.

Good to hear! The manual can be found inside this topic: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/16752-il-2bos-user-manual-released-first-edition-english/

I made sure to include the engine performance limits in it. And indeed, yes, keeping the Stuka's RPM at no more than 2250 and 1.15 ata will allow you to fly it without the engine conking out.
