barndoor Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Hi all,I bought this game in Alpha but didn't have a PC powerful enough to play it once it came out. I now have funds for a new gaming machine and want to play at high resolution on a 4k monitor. Could some techy types out there tell me what sort a hardware I will need to run this game smoothly at high resolutions? Please don't just quote the best stuff out there! I am still on a tight budget and want to only spend just enough to get the game running smoothly. I am using a 4k monitor for other work so already have that before I have built the PC to go with it.Thanks!
SharpeXB Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) I'm running BoS at 4K. Check out my specs below. A more cost effective GPU option now would be a pair of GTX 980tis though. I posted some tests in this forum section as well. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15870-bos-4kuhd-experiences/?do=findComment&comment=264217 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15855-who-has-geforce-titan-x/?do=findComment&comment=260699 Edited June 22, 2015 by SharpeXB
CisTer-dB- Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I run mine to at 4K. My setup is bellow http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10741-flying-sim-4k-monitor/?do=findComment&comment=163797
Dakpilot Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 From my experience a single GTX970 is just not quite enough, in many instances it does fine and can maintain 60fps at ultra in 4k, but can drop into the 40's when a lot is happening, most of the time this is still fine because there is still decent smoothness, however get a lot of A/C in the frame down low with some weather, and some micro stutters start to become noticeable as the FR drops to low, have never had an issue with Vram so the 3.5/4GB does not seem to be a limiting issue with BoS I believe a single GTX980 ti should handle it fine, but only when paired with a fast CPU, with BoS single core clockspeed/performance is king, and a minimum of 4core is needed If your CPU is not fast enough it will not keep up with feeding a GTX980Ti especially SLi, balance is needed or you will waste money. Some people seem to get good results from X99 and 5820 however I would love to see a comparison with Haswell or skylake/Broadwell at the same clock speeds with the same Graphics card to get some sort of definitive comparison with BoS as it is my experience that the higher single core clockspeed will outperform the higher multithreded performance you get from X99 platforms i7's BoS is fairly unique in its CPU demands compared to many other games, there is a very high compute load for FM and physics calculations and also a big demand from a high end Video card running at Ultra setting at 4k. Running 4K at 60 fps on a big screen is visually stunning but there is no cheap way of achieving it however I don't think you NEED the most expensive rig if you do your homework Cheers Dakpilot
Maico Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I run 4k at 60fps on this old CPU with old ram and old mobo. What made the difference? GTX980Ti. See sig Edited August 17, 2015 by Maico
CaK_Rumcajs Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I run 4k at 60fps on this old CPU with old ram and old mobo. What made the difference? GTX980Ti. See sig Well it's not exactly 4K what is in your signature (3440*1440). By 4K people usually mean 3840*2160 pixels. Or to be more precise 4K = 4096*2160. 3840*2160 is Ultra HD but often marketed as 4K too.
L3Pl4K Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Anybody runs the game in 3440x1440 with one gpu? Then yes, please send your spec and your performce stats.
