Guest deleted@50488 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) After having decided to make some money ( for RL flying and license revalidation...), and selling my x55 and Saitek Pro pedals, the only controller alternative I had was an old x52 Pro, half broken ( no buttons or sliders work in the joystick unit ... :-( ), and the twist axis for rudder inputs. I had noticed that the lack of proper force feedback in my rudder pedals sometimes made me over correct or simply lose the correct sense of how much input was required and I was using under some scenarios, specially in the heat of a dogfight. Flying IRL puts me really working my legs and feet, specially on those tight thermals and in some heavier / twin gliders, so... I was surprised to find out how much more intuitive using the twist axis can actually be. Having to use it made me even more aware o how it is required in IL2 BoS under the right situations, on high power climbs, high speed regimes in the Bf109, for slipping, tighter turns, etc... and it made me even more aware of the consistency of IL2's flight dynamics ... My only problem now is that I also have to get back the TIR5 I had lent to a friend - I take my hat off to those who can still have success using only the keyboard to control the cockpit / head views - I became spoiled by TIR5, and really can't do without it, contrarily to not having a rudder control system... During the las couple of days I revisited the DED Normal server because I didn't even had the guts to hit any of the Expert servers, but I plan to study the keypresses for all of those functions I had programmed in the x55, and look forward to have back that fancy artifact in my hat .... Then, I will properly restart learning the few tactics I had already became aware of Edited June 22, 2015 by jcomm
