Bearcat Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 a 75 hour work week.. lots of driving (913 total between Monday & Friday) .. little sleep... glad it's over..
Feathered_IV Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Ouch. Doesn't sound like fun. When I used to work for architectural design companies there was a culture of all nighters and staying at work for days on end. 120 hour weeks were not uncommon at the end of a project. Not so but when you're young, but I don't know if I could pull it off again.
Bearcat Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 120 hours... that is basically 24 hrs a day for 5 days...
Cybermat47 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Well, stop posting on here and get to sleep
Feathered_IV Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 120 hours... that is basically 24 hrs a day for 5 days... Trust me. When things are so busy you work 120 hours a week, it goes without saying you do not get the weekend off!
Adebar Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Don't get me wrong, everyone has his career and future plans. But I think it's really unhealthy to get company instrumentalized by a 120h week. This is not human, no matter what you want to achieve. I worked as a journalist and had 12 to 14 hour days for about three years. The result was more or less a breakdown. I had to learn to watch for myself, which is a real strength, not a weakness. I lost a colleague due to heart attack right in the office. This fast paced business world is just sick. Don't become it's victim. Time is running so fast and it's not what you take with you when you go, but what you leave behind.
352nd_Wheels Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Start your own business, all the hours you want and no life... 6 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday plus 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Did it for two years with nary a day off. In the twenty-five years we had the business I don't think I ever worked less than 70 hours a week. Wheels
Sternjaeger Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 dude, that's a lot of driving! What you do for a living?! :-O
BMA_West Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 What the heck, retire like me Downside is the 62 year mileage, but he it could be worse Yep, working weeks are not getting any better - in fact glad I am past all that and the way it got it. But compared to my father, coming home for lunch and a 20 ' nap, done at 17:00, Wednesday afternoons off, 3 month vacation ... yep a village teacher and my mother being housewife. He really had all the time to enjoy his job and family ...
