von_Tom Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) There's a great post on the Russian forums about a new Murmansk map. I have seen the pictures but am not registered (and am too lazy to do so) so I can't see them on the actual forum so I'll post the link for others to get the screens to post them up. http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/3109-murmansk-rabota-nad-kartoj/ It looks awesome. von Tom ps I use Google translate to look at that forum, but the above link goes direct to Cyrillic. Uufflakke Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 PA_Sniv wasn't too lazy so he posted screenshots of it. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/5594-will-there-be-other-maps/page-16
No601_Swallow Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Tom, you can use the same email/password as for the main English board. Now back to work! Your minions can't do everything, you know.
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Very cool! Going back to Murmansk would be a neat experience.
Cybermat47 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Hopefully we'll see the RAF and Hurricanes, and (as Feathered_IV bought to my attention) the RAAF and Hampdens. 1
6./ZG26_Emil Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 On that subject check this out https://www.warhistoryonline.com/military-vehicle-news/must-see-the-hurricane-recovered-from-a-lake-near-murmansk.html
6./ZG26_Custard Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Well if we get a Hurricane in the next aircraft set we can have Murmansk and North Africa too.
Mysticpuma Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I spent an entertaining couple of hours interviewing on video camera, Eric Carter, last surviving member of 81.Squadron who flew Hurricanes in Murmansk as part of Force Benedict. He had some great stories to tell about the base he was stationed at. He described the Russians scrambling to take off as quite amazing. They all got in their aircraft, started engines and just went headlong in the direction the aircraft was pointing. The base he was at he described as pretty much a waterlogged mud patch with a slush/snow covering that on o e occassion caught out a Hurricane pilot, as he landed ripping the undercarriage off in a waterlogged part of the runway (Eric said "Runway!? There weren't any Runways!" ) If I can find time I will edit it, but I am.pretty much tied up for the next couple of weeks, but it is a great insight into Murmansk and the typical.missions he flew (every one of them.escorting Russian bombers). Murmansk will be interesting to see recreated, cheers, MP 3

That's literally how me and my friend take off almost every time on the ATAG server, scramble or not Edited June 20, 2015 by Cybermat47
