Y-29.Silky Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Remember those Saturdays when... ... Everyone fired up IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad... ... Got on the BoS Team Speak... ... And flew together/against each other... ... And epic fights and immersive battles raged... ... ? ... ... Great days they were. So let's start it back up again. What if we pushed for a full 40+ player server on a Saturday night? What do you say? Can North America pull through? Grab your beer, slam the rudders, and let's hit the skies! JG13_opcode Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) I'll be there! Friday and/or Saturday. Expect to see me on my way back to earth leaving a trail of burning Yak behind me as I get shot down repeatedly. Edited June 17, 2015 by 13GIAP_opcode
JG13_opcode Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 TBH my wife is away, so I'll probably be on both nights. In my underwear. Drinking beer. Not having had a shower. 1
Y-29.Silky Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 Got a few others who are committed. Shameless bump!
BeastyBaiter Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I'm free tomorrow evening, will poke my head in.
SC_Manu653 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Will be there , maybe late but my wife is not at home too !
Adriaan Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Itching to get back into it now that I'm almost done with college for the year... Soon!
JG13_opcode Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Man, I was so enthusiastic Singleplayer is awful and I can't fly on the russian servers due to ping.
BeastyBaiter Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I was there for a little while but the mission on TWB was horribly ill suited to the numbers of players we had. It was far too spread out and lacked a natural focal point just like most of the other empty servers. To get this type of thing restarted, the missions need to be compressed enough that even in a 2v2 scenario, the players can find each other in a reasonable amount of time. It should also probably have some solo content too, such as flights of AI bombers so players have something to shoot while waiting for others to join. BoS simply doesn't have the MP player base at the moment for these giant maps everyone wants to run. To rebuild the player base, they need to be shrunk down and simplified. 4 airbases in close proximity with a very clear set of ground targets halfway between them is the way to go. If one end to the other of the map is more than 50km, you're doing it wrong. Ideally, it should all be in a single line as best as can be done so that flying from your base to the enemy base will inevitably have you fly past enemy aircraft if any are present. I realize this is not an historical scenario, but that is a luxury we don't have in the US TZ.

SYN_Haashashin Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 mission in the Eagles Nest server which has the same mission developers as the SYN server we used to play in that is located in North America, Hi silky, dont know where you got that info but....SYN server mission developers (me and Vander) has NOTHING to do with Eagles Nest missions whatsoever.

That's why jupp has added AI fighters and bombers to make the mission fun whether there's 1 player or 20. It's a nice refreshing approach, the only thing is jupp's hardware might get stressed with 20 to 30 players flying along with 20 Ai aircraft. The mission concept is great though and right along the lines of what your talking about.

The only way multiplayer is going to get back on it's feet is a mission that is action packed like the ones in the Beta release. The immersive missions are great, but it's not what BoS multiplayer needs at the moment. They can make a small immersive CAS missions with only one objective where everyone meets. Jupp's server is great and is what I'm going to fly for the majority of the time, just wish there were no markers. Sure you can disable them, but no one else will which puts you at a major disadvantage.
JG13_opcode Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Yeah I'd rather not fly than fly with icons tbh. If I'm going to work hard to get into an advantageous position on a 109, I'd rather he not be able to see a giant marker of my position through the cockpit and on the minimap.
Wandalen Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Summertime here, no time to fly. But i love the poker night events.

There's actually no mini map, has manual engine management, etc, etc.. Everything you have in expert, except the markers. It's kind of set up the same way as the battle-fields server is in IL-2:1946. But yeah I get what you mean, hello constant head-on's.
Skoop Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) Guys, jupp runs the server with icons on so he can view what the AI is doing. If you notice, while we are all furballing around, often jupp is siting on the runway switching through all the views with a close watch on how the ai performs in the mix with human pilots. Essentially we are helping test his missions. Having said all that, I can hoast the latest version with no Icons if the interest is there. I've been wanting to do a BOS stress test on my system. I noticed last Friday there were almost 20 players flying with all the Ai aircraft on jupp's server, it seemed there were a lot of complaints of lag, so I wanted to test the missions on my dserver to see if that would solve some of the lag. Y-29.Silky Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) Update, it's not at TWB's server anymore. Though it's not located in North America, Wings Of Liberty is the ideal server. Edited June 30, 2015 by [Y-29]Silky
216th_Xenos Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I used to fly these quite often (organized by SAG, see if you can get in touch with him), really good fun, can't make it this Saturday, on holiday with piss poor internet, but in the coming weeks will be back up

This upcoming weekend won't be much as it's a holiday (even though I'll be on!). I find wings often gets the objectives completed too quickly. I think it's because no one protects the objective My wingmate and I have started to circle the friendly objectives and bombers always show up. Edited June 30, 2015 by [Y-29]Silky
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 20, 2016 1CGS Posted January 20, 2016 It was an old post from last summer ! Aye, a spambot bumped up this topic.
Y-29.Silky Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Old but still relevant, let's do it!
Livai Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Aye, a spambot bumped up this topic. Poker night. It’s a time for men to be men. When we can eat as much food and drink as much booze as we want without her nagging us. When we can take money from our closest friends without any remorse. It’s the ultimate display of manhood and it has to be done right.
Y-29.Silky Posted June 11, 2016 Author Posted June 11, 2016 Bumpity boop bump. Couple of us are trying to rally the troops again!
GrendelsDad Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 (edited) Silky come join us early on the SNBF and then most if not all of us will go to a server and play after...so far over 25 to 30 of us will be there. We will be on BOS chat at 2:45 pm EDT. today jump in and join the flight. We have been killing it on these flights the last few months and it always spills over into the night after the mission. Next week it will be at 8pm EDT if this week is no good. Edited June 11, 2016 by 6./ZG1_GrendelsDad

I'm usually stuck with doing errands, yard work, or other horrendous things on a Saturday but it looks like I can fly that today so I'll be on. With that said, if you guys moved it to 8pm next week, that would be prime! 1
