AA_Engadin Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Such a FOV looks more inmersive to me than ORs. As ever, time will tell if this piece of hardware has a good change to get to the market. Crossing fingers here in the sake of competitiveness and lower prices (so I hope at least): http://www.gadgetify.com/starvr-headset-w-210-degree-field-of-view/ Enjoy! AA_Engadin
JG27_Chivas Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) You gotta love that FOV, but its gotta be way more expensive. If it provides a better VR experience, and flight sims provided support, I'd be all it, but I'm not so sure there is a cpu/gpu out there that can run a complex flight sim with that kind of FOV and resolution. We should know more this week during E3, but I'm not holding my breath on a good outcome. Edited June 15, 2015 by JG27_Chivas
SharpeXB Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Wow that seems cool The higher resolution would be better for flight sims too. The GPU demand would be pretty severe though I imagine if it has to run at 90hz like OR Edited June 16, 2015 by SharpeXB
AA_Engadin Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) The difference seems huge. AA_Engadin Edited June 18, 2015 by AA_Engadin
SvAF/F19_CoNa Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 The most important thing, DPI, is still about the same as the other VR sets. Yes, larger FoV makes the immersion better, but it has a hefty cost on the GPU side instead. DPI is still a bit poor to be able to identify planes at large distances.
SharpeXB Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 This is a move in the right direction though. Compared to this OR will be like wearing a scuba mask. Although it will probably take PCs none of us own yet to fully see the potential of VR with wide FOV and very high resolution.
JG27_Chivas Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Apparently its running on a single 980 at E3. From the reviews I've read so far it still has a long way to go, not to mention it also appears that the only games that will run on the system will be made by games company that partnered with the developer. That said it looks like the unit is still a couple of years from completion so a lot can change in that time frame.
