I had the pro clip before, but have had the usual problems with it,breakage ect. I am looking for an alternative to it now as I am not prepared to fork out near £50 for another. I would like to get a cordless one if they are around.

Thanks delboy

This could be an option.

These are great for reliable tracking and cheaper/much more robust than the Track Clip Pro:

Had three Track clip pros and broke all three so I bought a DelanClip and it's lasted longer than all of them.

Zami do you use the DelanClip with OpenTrack? If so is the compatibility good with that program?

The only thing you need to know about replacing trackIR clips is this.

Go somewhere that has a 3D Printer.

There's a model out there somewhere that you can download, take it and print off a dozen of the little buggers.

I don't use the DelanClip but it should be fine with Opentrack. I use a homemade 3 pt clip, pretty much the same as the DelanClip.

Opentrack and DelanClip works splendidly together.

Yes I am using Delanclip with Opentrack, works fine.

Got the Delanclip and it is fantastic! The only issue I have is the attachment,. the main anchor point is very small/narrow and most gaming headsets are rather wide, which can cause you difficulties, which are not in surmountable to be honest. If there was a better way of attaching it  and the price reflected this then I would still say buy the Delanclip over the Track IR  one, (which is prone to breakage very easily)  and I for one would cladly purchase the Delanclip. The Delanclip is functional robust and intuitive and excellent value for money, so get one!!

I just attached it with Velcro to my Logitech headset.

Just received my DelanClip and am using the latest OpenTrack release candidate. So much better than the head tracker! I can finally hold the zoomed view steady enough to ID bogies.

One question: I've noticed that when leaning to the side to look past the nose the view yaws in towards the centre line somewhat. Does anyone else notice this?

If you are using the accela filter take a look at the settings circled in red. The deadband area in particular, opentrack can be finicky. Also, are you referring to the roll axis or the x axis?

Thanks Gramps :)

I'm leaning to the side on the x axis. When I do this there is a tendency for the view to yaw in towards the centreline. It doesn't feel natural, however perhaps it has to do with having to keep my head towards the centre to keep my eyes on the screen.

I've got the sensitivity settings quite low and no deadzones.

Okay, when you move on the x axis (translation) if you move your head to keep centered you will introduce yaw (rotation). When moving on the x, y, z axis' any rotation of the head will affect roll, pitch, and yaw. Have you experimented with the mapping tab ?

Posted

Yes :)

Making my curves less aggressive will probably fix it, or perhaps introducing more deadzone. Otherwise I'll just have to get used to it! Even with this minor annoyance it's still a vast improvement over what I had.

Thanks for the help Gramps

Hi Guys,

I'm sick off my pro click that is now broken on all three points. It's usable but really wobbly and all over the place. I was thinking about buying a new one, but everywhere i'm reading bad things about it.

Can i just replace the pro clip with this one?

http://www.delanengineering.com/shop/#!/DelanClip-Starter/p/49740923/category=0

it's the standard Delanclip. Or do i need to change some other things?

Thnx.

Dont know if this is cost effective - or strong, but you can 3D print your own clip:

"Wireless"

Hi Sokol,

Again, thank you for the advise. I think i will go for the Delan clip. I looks solid and the simple design gives some building room as well.

Wireless sound awesome, but again needs a wireless headphone.

Maybe later.

I have the Delanclip, works perfect with TIR4. Need to bend the clip so a straight vertical "line" is formed by the IR-Diodes.

Also I bought a small battery pack normally used to charge a phone and mounted it on the head set since I have a wireless Corsair.

I've only used one I made myself and TrackHat clip. Their clip is very well made, very sturdy and the LEDs are much brighter than my home-made clip.

Here's a comparison of the 2 on a bright winter day with indirect sunlight from 3 windows.

This thread was originally posted in 2015 but it's nice to see that there are more alternatives popping up for a trackclip.    I went through 4 of the ones that naturalpoint makes before trying various things ranging from a $20 3d printed thing from hong kong that broke up to a Delanclip.  The Delan clip is definitely better than the Trackclip pro.  More recently, I've gotten a Lukeclip.   I highly recommend it.  I don't know how often he makes them but I found mine on ebay for about $35 + shipping.  Can use CR2032 batteries or a mini usb, he sends some adhesive velcro and it's pretty awesome.  Has on/off switch to save battery.  Can rip it from your head set and put it back on the velcro to adjust its angle to your camera without adjusting how your headset is sitting on your head.   I can't say enough about how satisfying receiving my Lukeclip was and how much easier it's been to deal with than anything else I've tried.   The only thing I didn't like about the delan clip is that due to fastening it with zip ties I had to move my headset for optimal tracking...which could probably easily fixed by just applying some velcro to it and your headset, maybe that's what sold me on the luke clip the most.  i'd advise doing so with your delanclip when you get it as opposed to zip ties.

I saw one connecting his broken track clip into the cables in his headphones, making it wireless. he glued the armes to it also . main reason it brake is the cable also

Dredging up this 'ol post to say I had to go back to TrackIR as Tobii Eyetracker with it's new software is not natively compatible with IL-2 GB. However, I upgraded to the LukeClip 2.0 from the TraclClip and wow! The quality is industrial grade too!

I highly recommend this gizmo! Another satisfied customer!

Great job Luke!

Went from TiR5+ ProClip to the Delan setup, including their all-steel clip (wired version).

That clip is super sturdy, despite the fact that it does have exposed wiring. In the year I've been using this thing daily, I did bang it into stuff near my desk or into the desk itself. Never had any real worries I'd break anything because ... steel.

IMO the TiR ProClip is a bit of a joke WRT longevity, materials used and overall construction. It's basically built to break.
