SCG_Space_Ghost Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Any thoughts on this? I currently have a single GTX770SC liquid cooled with an H80i... I have room for a second radiator and a second card but I am not sure if the expense makes sense versus an upgrade to a GTX970 (or greater.) Edited June 5, 2015 by 4./JG26_Adler
Urra Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 You won't see any noticable performance increase going from 700 to 900 series while keeping the same settings. I am very happy with one 980. Get 70fps 1 meter offthe ground in qmb, and 45-60fps in multiplayer most of the time. Latest Nvidia driver patch also bumped this up a few frames, it seems. More cards may mean more load on the cpu, which you have to avoid with this title.

I am currently running an i5 2500K chip at 4.5GHz and I am only using 50% or so at full load in BOS.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I upgraded from a single 780 to a pair of 780s in SLI running a resolution of 2560x1600 and I haven't personally noticed a huge difference. I guess it depends on the resolution and what settings/performance you're already getting but if you're playing in 1080p for example I would imagine you're already locked at 50-60 fps.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 edit they're GTXs and I set the clock speeds back to stock because of the extra heat generated. Other considerations: if you fly CLOD you have to look in to how well SLI works, there was some kind of tweak provided by the old team a few years back which is supposed to work iirc.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 GTX970 I'm running one and it's a fantastic card. From a personal viewpoint I won't upgrade to SLI until I'm running a much higher resolution monitor than I currently am.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 -snip- Other considerations: -snip- I am also playing other games - is your experience with lack of gain entirely related to BOS? We do know that BOS is also fairly CPU bound. Any experience in general gaming/rendering/other applications?

Any experience in general gaming/rendering/other applications? No definately not. The CLOD thing is because that is the game I played most until this one came out and I held off going for SLI because I wasn't sure if it would work properly. SLI worked great in GTA 5, Worked crap or didnt work for Kerbal, think it works well for ARMA 3 I don't play a lot of games but I think SLI is fairly well supported these days but I know you play CLOD so just wanted to point that out. As far as BOS goes I was getting very high FPS anyway with a huge resolution monitor and with a single card so yeh I think CPU is probably more important.
SharpeXB Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 (edited) I've tried running BoS on a Titan X and 2x Titans in SLI The thing is when you're in situations where the CPU must limit you, like big battles, the effect of both cards is negated. In situations without that limit obviously the SLI kicks in. Ultra 3840x2160 AA 2x Live runs not recorded tracks so there's a bit of variation Quick Mission Free Flight, Stalingrad 109G SLI Min 66 Max 98 Avg 87 1 GPU Min 51 Max 73 Avg 61 "Dive Bombing" Stock Mission Ju-87 squadron take off SLI Min 37 Max 75 Avg 54 1 GPU Min 37 Max 76 Avg 60 Edited June 6, 2015 by SharpeXB
