What is you experience with ATI/AMD cards and sims?

Can't complain about AMD drivers. For example I run Mechwarrior Online on almost full settings(disabled motion blur and other gimmicks) at a steady 60fps VSync on. Can easily get over 100fps without VSync. And CryEngine is the "the way you are meant to be shafted" aka nV optimized ;):P Same applies to other games like EVE Online, Men of War-series, Cliffs of Dover etc. They all run just fine. I bet most of the alleged driver problems are mainly due the game engine bugs and on top of that users tweaking/forcing settings expecting it to work. This happens in both camps, unrealistic expectations when they meddle with the settings and use heavy OC.

For me both brands have offered good performance and IQ in games, both having their issues with drivers. For now using AMD as the 290X offers better bang for the buck compared to nVidia GTX780Ti, the price tag difference simply does not justify the marginal gains in FPS. Could not care less if nV poops out 122fps and my card 116fps if the average and minimum are the same or within single digits.

Are you using CF or very high resolutions? The problems with AMD drivers and DX9 only pop up with CF at higher resolutions like in the picture I posted (Skyrim 4K). Everything 1080p is perfectly fine if you only use one card, so is everything at higher resolutions if it is based on DX11.

I have never bothered with CrossFire or SLI since Voodoo II cards back in late 1990's ;) Too much of a hassle for the gains you get. Years and years people have been complaining about SLI/XFire incmpatability, stuttering and whatnot..and nothing has changed. That is why I use as powerful as possible single GPU for gaming, and it works.

Sadly I need a dual gpu or SLI/CF to run high settings on my current setup (3xAsus VN 278Q with 3240x1920). Even the LG 34 UM95-P that I want to buy has a resolution of 3440x1440 will need two GPUs if I want to play on max settings. But I agree, for 1080p gaming and DX11 AMD is the best choice at the moment.

Zettman Give me a week I'll report back with a full report on the R9 295x2 with Asus 4 K monitor performance for BoS and CloD :)

I'm really interested in that. For the moment I decided to wait with buying new cards, I still have my two GTX 670 for BoS. Instead I invest in this baby http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=3186 and get my two GTX780 Classified Hydro Copper running again (Time to get back from air to water). Nothing better than tinkering on a water loop to relax a bit. But one R9 295x2 for currently 887€ still sounds interesting...

And before some ask, I don't have a motorbike or expensive car (just a Hyundai i30), PC and Water cooling is a hobby for me and currently having no girlfriend that would demand atleast one pair of shoes for every piece of hardware I buy comes in hand too.

Zettmann. True that multiple screens and higher resolutions need a lot of horsepower. I wish to have CrossFire one day, but shall see. Maybe in a year or two with the 4k monitors becoming more mainstream and dropping prices.

My 7950 /3 gig card works great.

Shall see, next week I get to try CrossFire on my system. 2 x 290X should do the trick :)

Just went to 2 watercooled Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X cards clocked 1070 core/ 1375 memory running in CF.

I think that the differencen using NVIDIA or AMD isn't the FPS, it's the frametime. NVIDIA has better frametime (and drivers). Maybe a good frametime it's better than a good number of FPS (taking 2 graphics card with similar performance, NVIDIA vs AMD).

I'm playing with one old CFX (HD5850 CFX), and I can play High settings with AA4x smooth, and both graphics at 99% of use (from last updates).

AMD has impoved a lot in frame times after the issue was brought to light. I can choose to have frame pacing enabled/disabled in CrossFire if etc. And when testing Mechwarrior Online last night I got average of 150fps and up to 190fps without VSync :) Can say it was smooth gameplay :) Managed to get CrossFire to work in BoS too.

Now, at least for me after the test that I did yesterday, CFX is working perfectly in this SIM.

The CFX it's all time at 99% of use of cores all time, with low CPU use (-50% 3 cores working, the 4th 0% of use).

The last test that I did, some weeks ago, was different, but I did with one AMD CPU, now I have one Intel CPU....I think that this affect (X4 955 at 3,7ghz before, and now one I5 4690k at 4500mhz). Intel work better with CFX, I think so

(and again...sry for my bad English)
