Can we have un-retracted tail wheel on Bf109F4 and G2?

Hi development team, can we have this feature? It's a very usual practice especially during winter, . how much speed will be lost by this?

Can't wait to see how this goes.

Sure, but then you can't have the F2 at all while they take the time to implement and test it............................. ;)

We already know where this goes: People start posting long lists of thing they want changed in BoS and claim these are way more important than locked down tailwheels (I was about to post something like that but was stopped by a sudden sense of déjà vu)

Then the entire thread degenerates into a fight over whether or not the flaws of BoS means the sim is still pretty good or absolutely sucks.

OPs proposal never gets properly discussed.

such a small feature will impact the implement of new AC, I cannot believe.

Something about Yak's flaps no doubt.

And I want windscreen fogging, and the ability for the player to reach out and wipe it with a cloth, be modelled. It too was a very common practice during winter...

Could also leave off the lower gear doors ...

None, because the G2 we have is the fixed tailwheel version. It's performance matches that of the G1/2 testbed aircraft that had a fixed tail wheel within 1% at sea level, 3000 and 6000 meters.

I think the devs just got their 3d models mixed up.

It is not your singular feature which would affect the development. It is 'feature creep' which would affect develpment. 100 or a 1000 of these small gimmes can doom a project. It was an exageration with a point.

Anyway I just speak out what I think in decent way. let the dev team to know it. seems lots smart guy here think it's guilty to do such thing like this? this forum is very interesting.

I think most people here think it's perfectly fine, even entertaining to discuss these small details, but HerrMurfs warning about feature creep is relevant as well.

The devs need to prioritize hard when designing new features for BoS, when they're working hard to get both BoM planes and the summer/autumn maps ready within a couple of months.

realistically though....who would honestly chose to fly around in an aircraft with it's tail wheel locked down? I know I wouldn't and if you want to remove your wheel covers just drop your landing gear at around 500 kph :D

Why not?

Gustav, your suggestion was absolutely polite and I have no problem with suggestions. I have made more than my share and often less politely than yours. It's just not timely at this point in the development.

No one would chose to fly in a way that is going to impede their own performance even if it's just by a few kph

But we already do, our G2 FM is identical to the fixed tail wheel G1/2. If anything the G we currently have should be slightly faster (+/- 12kph @SL).

So we only need to do minor graphic setting change if thing is like this.

I know what you mean now.

Actually, if snow or mud would build up between wheel well doors and gear and/or in the tailwheel well then it would be great to lock down the tailwheel and remove the lower gear doors so the gear doesn't freeze in the retracted position or the wheels to the brakes/doors/gear legs.  Unfortunately, these conditions don't exist so the need for for these options doesn't either.  Problem solved (sahl' ved).

if  lots of thing in game can be solved by this way. we will lose a lot features  :o:

Un-retracted tail wheel only has 4km/h impact on the max speed.
