Mastermariner Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Ah..hum...! I think I will pass for the moment. http://recode.net/2015/05/27/oculus-rift-total-package-price-around-1500/
Toxin1 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 The link is referring to the total cost including the spec ed system to run the rift optimally. Seems about right although I think by Q1 2016 that spec is likely to cost less.
SharpeXB Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Oh, that $1,500 includes a PC with the afore mentioned specs. NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater 8GB+ RAM That actually doesn't sound so bad. Edited May 28, 2015 by SharpeXB
SharpeXB Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Oh yeah. I think that's the price most assume. What they're saying with the $1,500 price is that you won't be able to hook the OR up to just any PC. That min spec PC is about $1,000. So all together it's that price. And when they say "minimum" that's the spec needed to run Angry Birds on it or whatever. They've said OR will be 3x as demanding as a 1080p game. So for something intensive like a flight sim. Triple whatever system runs that well at 1080p. It's not going to be cheap.
JG27_Chivas Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I knew the title of the article would elicit a few misunderstandings. I posted on reddit VR forums that I expect a few posts like. "I'm gonna buy Vive if the Rift cost 1500 dollars."
