ColonelMolerat Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 On the Stuka, how can you tell if you've armed your bombs, without relying on the HUD?I can't see any switch moving when I change between 'Bomb fuses on' and 'Bomb fuses off'.(I can see the various switches move when I switch which bombs are being dropped - just not when I arm/disarm them)Thanks!
1CGS LukeFF Posted May 28, 2015 1CGS Posted May 28, 2015 There currently is no way to see that, unfortunately.
Sokol1 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 If I remember correctly (or things are changed) the only plane that spawn with bombs unarmed is He-111, so don't bother with arm switch in other planes, just don't drop bombs on runway. For He 111, add the Scroll Lock key for "arm bombs", so you have a light green LED when arm bombs.
Sokol1 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Tested (in QM) and He 111 too spawn with bombs armed... So if use the Scroll Lock key, LED on bombs safety, off ready to drop. BTW - As many "virpilovs" are afraid to change the "sacrosanct default" keyboard mapping (as if someone can decide better that you how use his controls...) I am talk in ADD the Scroll Lock key for "Bombs safety switch", not remap the "default". upload pictures free Edited May 28, 2015 by Sokol1

The original question dealt with whether or not there's a cockpit animation showing the bomb fuse arming.
ColonelMolerat Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Drat, it's a shame there's no way to tell. Was there a way in real Stukas? (ie, is it something that's been deliberately or accidentally missed out?)The scroll lock tip is a good idea though, I'll use that!
ColonelMolerat Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 I can't work out how to edit, so I'll add this: On this page, it mentions using the 'master arm switch' in the cockpit to arm the bombs. So is this something that's not modeled in BoS? If it's supposed to be there, might there be hope it will be fixed in a later patch?http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3265908/How_to_Stuka
Sokol1 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Different version of Stuka (and different game), Ju87 B-2 in the game of the link, Ju87 D-3 in this game. And different approach to gamers, in this "less keys is better", and as I wrote above bombs are already ready to use, so just the drop bombs button is really needed. As bonus you have option to select quantity of bombs for drop in each button press. Explained here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12776-understanding-new-bomb-selection-system-ju-87/
-Roy-Cheesy-Chops Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 took me a while to use the bombs correctly when the icon goes green [fuse on] the bombs are armed and will explode let a few duds go off over the course of the weekend
Theoask Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 BTW, on another topic related to Stukka: How come it's not possible to see under the fuselage from the cockpit? I remember in IL-2 1946 and previous that I could see the ground through an opening below, which made it quite convenient to know when to bomb dive with sirens on.. Is it because the Stukkas used in Il-2 BOS are different from Stukkas used on other war zones?

You can open that window on the floor in with the same keybing as the one used to open the bomb bay doors. Edited August 31, 2015 by SYN_Ricky
