1CGS LukeFF Posted May 26, 2015 1CGS Posted May 26, 2015 In the Bf 109, what sort of master compass was fitted in the fuselage? I know it was electrically-driven, but beyond that I don't have any details at hand.
Mastermariner Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 As I recall the Bf109 had a magnetic compass situated in the fuselage behind the pilot, this had to be "swung" and compensated and a correction card made up. The information from this master compass was transferred electrically to a slave on the instrument panel. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=36356 How to use: Master
1CGS LukeFF Posted May 26, 2015 Author 1CGS Posted May 26, 2015 Good stuff, thanks! I was thinking it was a magnetic master compass in the fuselage, but I wanted to be sure. Coincidentally, I also came across that same web page on Axis History during my search last night.
BMA_FlyingShark Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I hope we get that course setting one day in BoS/BoM too.

BMA_FlyingShark Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I suggested it a few weeks ago in the suggestions section.
