Dakpilot Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 In the above pics the first two are with post effects off and the second two with post effects on but no box checked, same time of day /mission /weather Ran out of time to edit the post further I think I see a difference Cheers Dakpilot
SharpeXB Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 A lot of the 'LoD bubble' is enhanced by the low gamma in game settings that have become popular and 'recommended';You might be on to something there. I see an LOD "limit" in this game and RoF and it's not bothersome enough for me to quit playing it. While it would be nice to try adjusting it, leaving settings at their default is not disagreeable at all. Your gamma setting or "brightness" and contrast on your monitor are important settings in a game that's all shades of white. Get a home theater calibration disc or test patterns and understand how these are supposed to be set. It makes a big difference in picture quality. Most PC monitors don't do these adjustments correctly compared to HDTVs but even getting it close is good. For myself I see really nice shades of white that are actually beautiful in their simplicity. Maybe we are yearning for spring but the winter world is actually quite nice. It looks astonishing in 4K from above.
sturmkraehe Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) CloD tried to be impeccable in graphics, and look where that got them. They didn't fail because of impeccable graphics. Obviously it was something else (to my highest regrets because imho CloD could have been THE flight sim for the next decade and - despite its flaws at release - it gave me the best sensation of actually flying an early ww2 fighter. *sigh* BoS - as nice as it is and being a fully working package - feels more like an improved 1947 in terms of flying a vintage plane. But btt: I would like to re-iterate my suggestion to allow as an additional setting a custom setting whith a pop up warning message ("use at your own risk. Don't blame the developers for bad results. If you don't like what you get with YOUR settings, please try one of the recommended presets.") that is triggered upon choosing custom settings. If they are afraid of "bad" screenshots to pop up on the net: Why not water-mark the screens in some corner with the used setting... Edited May 22, 2015 by sturmkraehe
361fundahl Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Just buy better hardware and run it on ultra like it should be....
1CGS LukeFF Posted May 23, 2015 1CGS Posted May 23, 2015 Its about time somebody makes a flight sim with "impeccable " graphics." Everything in gaming development consumes a demand for resources, which means while some feature is being worked on, something else is put on hold. What other requested features are you willing to delay/forego in order to get these so-called "impeccable" graphics? And read Jason's comments above about CLOD's adventure. They had all the means to do the ultimate sim. I am pretty sure Jason would appreciate the kind of budget Oleg had... I am well aware of what Jason says, and my point still stands (and in fact, I totally agree with what he said). CloD over-promised and under-delivered.
SharpeXB Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) For more examples, here are shots of RoF with and without the Post Effects looking at the cockpit photo it actually appears as if there is still an SSAO effect there Edited May 23, 2015 by SharpeXB
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Such as?1. Terrain.ini edit to increase terrain resolution to 4k (makes navigation way easier)2. Config file edit (reduce gamma value below restricted game value) 3. SweetFX (not really a mod per se, still I nearly find it a nessecity to stand the dull and weak lightning in BoS). There were even more attempts and methods in the past, which dont work anymore due to config file changes made by devs. No matter how you look at it its plainly wrong....not because people try to find way how to make the game look better but that they have to. The overall resisdence of the devs against custom graphic settings is still stunning in a bad way. Edited May 23, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka 2
SharpeXB Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 1. Terrain.ini edit to increase terrain resolution to 4k (makes navigation way easier) I'm aware of this .ini option but changing it caused my game to crash every time I've tried it. SweetFX I've used with CoD but not with this or RoF.
