WhiteYeti Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) Gday all, a new Aussie based squad has been formed the "Blue Orchids the Grave Diggers".http://blueorchids.freeforums.net/ here is a link to our comms info http://blueorchids.freeforums.net/thread/6/teamspeak Kiwi's and other Oceanic countries are more than welcome to join. If you are a member of another Squadron you are more than welcome join/fly as well, we won't expect you to drop your tags you don't have to be a Aussie to join in. All that is required is a good attitude and abit of respect for other members and squadrons, remember we play for enjoyment. There are no restrictions as to when you have to be online, what you fly or play. Cheers WhiteYeti. Edited May 22, 2015 by BOGD_WhiteYeti
Thx1137 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I will try and get on to TS tonight and see if anyone is around. I hope the MP aspect picks up. I prefer coop but beggars can't be choosers :-) A bit of an intro. I have been a flight sim fan since my Sinclair Spectrum days though since getting my license for two seaters (Jab 160, SportStar) I had barely touched a flight game. ARMA had taken my sim time. It has been a couple of years since I have flown at all and I'd been missing it and found BoS. I didn't like the sounds of what many sim enthusiasts were saying about the game but I bought it anyway. Soooo glad I did. The XP system is a non-issue for me, just playing it unlocks add-ons quick enough and they are not necessary to play well, the graphics are amazing and run like a dream on my 4k monitor (run at 2560x1440) and I feel like the sensation of flying way better than FSX ever felt. People shouldn't compare it to older games event if they are older versions of IL-2, it is a very solid foundation that is going to be great for the devs to build on. That does make it a bit expensive but at least what there is is very high quality, I prefer a good quality if a bit expensive to nothing.
WhiteYeti Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 G'day THX and novice, Felix is currently working on one atm and all going well shouldn't be to long before it's up and running, he wants to make sure it's running fairly smooth before putting it out there. Cheers WhiteYeti.
Felix58 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Hi Guys, As WY mentioned been delving into the mysteries of DServer. Appear to have a successful installation, i.e., myself and another player have been able to enter the coop. It will not be a full-time server. Just open it for squad events (as we get more organised). Been using missions shared in the site Mission Making directory. So will be digging into the mysteries of mission making eventually. But it appears we should be able to host multiplayer and coop missions. Just need a little more time to test the process and see what sort of load we can take. Note that I have posted a howto DServer on the forum mentioned by WY, so if you want to have a go at hosting, the howto should get you started.
SCG_Tzigy Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I would love try to join/fly with u guys. Living in Alaska, my time zone is super unfriendly to BOS MP fun. Might have better luck flying EST/WST...
Felix58 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 No worries, jump onto the forum and say hello. We are still testing how Dserver operates, mission building etc for our own private squad missions, but you are always welcome. Often we jump onto one of the persistent servers.
Zjahna Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi guys, I live in Melbourne and would love to have someone to fly with at times. My schedule is best described as erratic but on some evenings when I get a chance. I am a relative beginner but I try! Will try and catch you in the next week or so, thanks for trying to organise something in our timezone, Cheers, Zj
Felix58 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 No worries! Look forward to catching you online sometime. Keep an eye on our forum, Sunday and Wednesday we are trying to make a regular appearance. But we are usually online in our server more than that during the week. Skill level does not matter, just enthusiasm and good manners! Set yourself up with Teamspeak.
novicebutdeadly Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 A big thank you for organising last night!!!~S~Novice
Tyberan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Oh man an Aussie squad I need to sign up to this. What time are you guys meeting at on Wed and Sun, I live in WA so i'm 2 hours behind everyone else.
Felix58 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Hi Tyberan, Usually 2000-2030hrs AEST - keep an eye on our forum - see link in first post. At this stage we only launch the server when we get together. If we can get enough flyers we might look at going 24/7. Still gauging interest. Usually the official BOS teamspeak channel.
Tyberan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Awesome, I've been looking for people to play the sim with and learn from. Admittedly I've lost interest in the sim as of late mainly due to being bored of seeing white snow all the time. But I'm keen to hang out and fly with others.
WhiteYeti Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 We had another event last night and all went well, a couple of new faces showed up which is good to see. Keep a eye on the forums or on our website http://blueorchids.freeforums.net/ for further events. Cheers WhiteYeti.
