Requesting AI aircraft for the lack of players in multiplayer , its getting quite pointless going online to fly nearly empty servers , so i am requesting that it be a good  idea to add AI for us lone wolfs to at least doing some thing construtive . when online....

sunday night 21:00 GMT servers are nearly empty

Cliffs of Dover ..............78... in one server.

AI aircraft would be good, and a well crafted mission on an empty server would certainly beat the current SP experience. If a way can be found for the game to handle more than one or two AI aircraft at a time it would be a great way of drawing offliners into MP and an effective means of seeding a server.

I can't remember the server name, but I've been logged into one that featured I think 9 AI Heinkels, and that ran fine for me, though admittedly, I was only there with one other guy.

I managed to get onto the TWB server last night at its peak was 28 players and it was very good fun , i encounted some lagg in game play but nothing to put me off , its a good server .

S! to them guys for making the effort . I really hope things pick up .

By the steam states this month it has its lowest count in people playing this sim .

Sunday night 9pm UK time was near the end of the 48 player coop. You jumped in after the password restrictions were lifted iirc. After an hour getting organised and then a 1 hour 30 minute mission I imagine most people were shattered, we certainly were!

I don't find I am seeing the same as you though, every night we fly there is at least one or two 'expert' servers almost full although the numbers dropped since the last two weeks. We're British and never have problems finding a server but we do fly from 8pm to 11pm on average.

p.s even now at 4pm in the afternoon right now is 39 online in WOL,17 in the normal server and a few here and there in the others.

Now look at atag....7 red and 4 blues!

I guess i must of just missed you guys online , problem for me is i only fly expert .

American "Prime Time" hours are awful for population compared to European time.

I wish that duel server would come back, that was perfect when no one was on.

Yes this

And a more mission orientated normal server please

If you see a server named "Coconut's dev server VLiki Counter-Offensive" online, give it a try.

It's my server, where I run a mission I'm developing. The mission is a battle that stretches over several hours, and it has smaller missions with AIs in it.

The server is online when I'm developing or using the computer, during evenings GMT.

The mission is pretty long to load, a couple minutes maybe, so don't be surprised.

Coco does this have ground war and smoke effects , as its getting pretty dull flying around with nothing to fly towards , or aim for . yes i know ground targets are there but once these are hit  the smoke stays for 30 seconds then disapears this is very unrealistic . online play is getting very stale .

We need some good missions .

shall give it a try if i see server online .

This weekend during NA prime hours I saw a max of 4 people online...

at least if there were AI aircraft it wouldn't be so terrible.

The ground war was the first thing I built. Two groups of howitzers exchange fire on the border of the city of Velikie Luki. There are also Katyushas that come out of the woods, unleash hell then move back under cover. There are tank groups that cross bridges that are still whole, or drive around those that are broken. All this happening as the sun rises. During the dark hours, searchlights add to the show. Germans keep trying to reinforce the city by air and by train, bringing new cannons and replacing damaged ones.

There's also a couple smaller skirmishes along the border south of the city.

All in all, I've tried to add life on the ground, if one can call a battle "life". Whether I succeeded or not is for players to judge.

I'll watch out for that. It sounds great.

Just curious, which side was stacked? I'm surprised that with BoS I tend to see it varies with which side has the most players...a welcome change from the old days of '46

It was stacked for the German side , i flew the Yak . We need AI to fly too , one human pilot against nine other seems abit over kill , i flew around in circules over my airfield waiting for the 109 to dive down which they did , and AAA too care of the rest . landed with fuel leak and took off again once clear , then map ended .

Another fix i would like to see is the time scales on servers . just now ten people were flying expert DED . we had another two come in to join with five minits left , i would like to see a time remaining , icon before joining a server .

AI bomber formations on each team paroling the map would be great, as well as AI ground attackers. If no one's in the server at all, it'd give people a reason to log in. As of now when i see empty servers I don't bother. I'm sure a lot of people check and say "meh no one" and never log in. Self creating problem.

I would happily fly against bots that would fill in for an empty  server..... they could decrease in number as people log in or whatever..

There has to be a solution somewhere, come on..

~S~ Everyone,

I've been in the hanger working out the fine details of Mission Building like a man on fire.

I've had myself ear to ear grinning at the nearly daily now advances towards my own end goals.

Believe me you when I say that this sim has legs. I will be posting again the ME section very soon.

And yes, I'm talking about AI in MP of every type and mission task, in decent numbers, in close proximities, with no rubber banding, on my mid-level machine, hosting Dserver, while playing.

They must have all gone mad chasing the aurora borealis because I see the same thing. Hope to have a server of my own running in the future, Central time, either hosting others' missions or my own when I have an ME that starts up (next patch)?

S~ Fellows,

Here's a teaser, just imagine this, localized in your living room, at this time of day, at your latitude...

https://youtu.be/WxLSOiPuSR8

There are over 50 entities operational, doing every type of combat role, not counting the flak, aaa, and window dressing.

I could have taken a bazillion screenshots if my hands weren't shaking from the excitement of the potentials I've witnessed.

Just need to dot my I's and cross my Tease before I release this into the wild. The read me will be the hardest thing to get right.

I'm going to explain how to cut copy paste what I have done for the wet behind the ears up and comers that are certain to follow us.

Blue Skies,

~S~ Chief,

I'll put it back up, it's on the  top of the list... "Jupps Goodbye Blue Sky"....

It's catch as catch can though, I'm not running a persistent 24/7/365 server until I replace this computer later this year.

I'm in the United States obviously... so your milage may vary, however with another flyer from Cali we've had a blast creating these sets.

Just tried it, great work! Nice approach on the "multiplayer with AI". Concentrated, fast action. I had great fun booming and zooming through clouds of AIs in my FW. Time of the day (evening/night) surprisingly didn't make it too difficult to see enemies, and searchlights helped quite a bit (except when they are pointed at you ). Maybe some will find the action a bit too concentrated and chaotic, but I can only encourage people to take a look at it anyway. The fact that the action is anchored around ground pounders and bombers helps understand who is who.

Lots of nice details in the environment, too. The start from the runway as German in the second mission was exciting.

I left suddenly when I lost connection to the server. I also noticed a bit of warping. With all these AIs flying around, make sure the upload bandwidth settings are correctly set in the SDS config. Maybe this is just the distance between continents that makes it hard to avoid.

what you are talking about is a persistent world or perpetual CO-OP, unlike a actual CO-OP or DF server you join a battle already in progress between AI who already have scripted objectives, with set victory conditions for both sides. This however sounds a lot simpler than it really is, there are so many variables involved in keeping a persistent world...well just that, persistent.

ultimately you want the AI to be at a constant stalemate and have the human player be the deciding factor along with scripted attrition/replacement factors, moving front lines, supply's (trains,trucks,ships)...etc

I flew the other day on a server with Ai ..it was a lot more fun than flying without Ai .. i did notice some lagg in the dogfight though , nothing major , net code still needs some work . We dont need Ai doing ground attacks or moving front lines , as i think this wont handle it at the moment , Just fighter cover would do .
