Accessing config settings

Hi. I need to get into my config setting [ lower gamma level ] but i cant open the file [startup . cfg] I have Adobe reader XI installed, but when i try to open file i get the message " could not open startup.cfg, file either not supported or damaged "

 

Any idea as to what i can do.
