Hi so at last i have got my hands on IL2 and got to say it's amazing but really fustrating I amat the moment seting up my contriler an everything the defult settngs are a littel od but i have fnaly got the aircraft in my control (almost) and the guns now work as i want them I thaught 1946 was complex it is nothing comperd to this I love the fligt modle i can't beleave how unfrgiving the Russion aircraft are you really can't throw them around like you could throw around the Spifires in 1946. what is the best (most forgiving) plane to start off with in this game? So far I have a kill count of 0

I think most will say the Bf 109F is the best flying plane in this game maybe not the best dogfighter because of its weak elivator, I prefer the G variant once you master the ground handling of all planes.

The Yak is also a forgiving plane in this game.

Think most will have their preferences and its a strong arguing point on this forum. 

 

Once you have the controls configured you will go on leaps and bounds.

Welcome. Trust me you'll get into it pretty fast and have tons of fun

 

Best and easiest aircraft (assuming you're talking fighters) will have to be the Bf 109F-4. Just remember not to overstress the engine. Keep manifold pressure below 1.32 ATA and you've got a plane that's both maneuverable, very fast and an unmatched climber.

 

The G-2 is also good, if somewhat less maneuverable, and has even simpler engine controls because the throttle is capped at 1.3 ATA. Just slam the throttle and let her roll.

 

For the Soviet side, the Yak-1 is pretty easy to fly and unmatched in a tight turn fight.

 

The La-5 and Fw 190 are both powerful and fast machines but not on the forgiving side. Leave them be for now except maybe for intercepting bombers.

 

The LaGG-3 is the plane you fly to prove, that you're a better pilot. It flies alright and has a very broad selection of weapons to choose from, but its performance is vastly inferior to all other fighters.
