Dive Brakes on JU 87 Help Required

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So I normally fly the 190 & decided to try my hand at Dive bombing in the 87.

I cannot get the dive/air brakes to deploy.

Are there certain conditions or a special key, I am assuming the default RALT+B operates them, tried that both with keyboard and mapped in Thrustmaster, nada neither inside the cockpit on the lever or on the wings. The Flaps I'm assuming drop almost 90 deg to the wings but I cannot see zip. Tried both on the ramp engine running and in free flight.

I'm obviously doing something wrong but can't see what everything else seems to work so far

The lever I think is the dive brakes are circled in red just to make sure I'm looking at the right lever

Cheers

Ok figured it

The dive brakes are separate from the flaps and located under the wing.

I was flying with the big 3.7 cm gun pods and of course the brakes could not deploy as the canisters get in the way.

Loaded up some bombs and they work a treat

i thought the same thing when i used them first. They are actually quite small and you dont notice there effects really until you are actually in a dive i.e u can fly level with them on with out drastic effects

Thanks AeroAce, I haven't really got to grips with them yet as I'm doing some train busting, I'm the worst pilot/shot ever, but having fun.

I'll post up a separate thread on the 3.7s

Actually, the dive brakes are removed on the G.

Ok thanks

I'll take a look more closely when I've got it configured that way. Nil points for observation Monument

The 3.7s doing train busting are great fun, but they are hard enough to deploy accurately against a train (for me anyway) let alone tanks and heaven forbid there were enemy fighters around.

Amazed at the long time of flight before they hit home, actually found myself aiming marginally ahead to the train to score a hit
