In my 20 years in the military, I jumped out of them once or twice. Brock 3 bones in my left ankle and 4 in my right............Oh, wait a minute that was playing volleyball!

Rarely publishing any pics of myself, but here goes. Went to the Armor Museum on Parola, Finland with my son and LLv34 fellow pilot Hogleg. The real crowd catcher there is the King Tiger on display. But a lot to see for any tank lover!

The headphones are from an audio tour of RAF Cosford. If you ever get a chance: go. There's the Museum of the Cold War, which has the MiG above and much, much more. Yellow Sun nuclear bomb, anyone ? XM177 nuke ? Polaris ? V2 ? Vulcan ? Etc etc etc. There's hangars full of planes, from early aviation to experimental models, WW2, the lot. 

The Pup below is a replica, but they have a real Bullet and a 1 1/2 Strutter, if memory serves. Ju88's, ME 262's, Avro Lincoln, FW190's - you can go full geek there. As my wife found out. 😉 (Luckily, her Dad flew Lancasters, so she can tolerate my Biggles obsession. 😉 )

It's the well documented, but still rare, "portuguese army contract" of 1909 of which 5000 were made. All matching numbers, except for the magazine (which is nickel and the wood matches the grips, so period appropriate anyway). A rare bird. Slightly reoxidized, but a subtle, good job at that: no markings were harmed and are all visible. If it werent for that it would be top-rank collectible.

 

I dont intend to shoot it because of its uniqueness.

Me “back in the day” as refueler. Best job I ever had, and I’ve had quite a few including working 5,000 feet underground as a chute tapper at a copper mine. Been retired now for 11 years. And now you know…the rest, of the story…
