Guest deleted@50488 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Not all the aircraft included in BOS would buffet before entering stall, but the big majority did... In IL2 BoS when flying near the edge of the envelope I can't find any hint that I am just about to stall. In the past there was that unwanted wobbling in pitch, that got ironed out some patches ago, but we never had stall buffeting.
Bullets Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 It some aircraft it is there and very pronounced, however in some others such as the 190 or Pe2 I find the buffeting to be much more illusive and I often find myself stalling violently when trying to turn too tightly.
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Don't we have this? I mean... most planes as you get closer to the stall there is a buffeting sound effect (that is very convincing) and the view starts to shake quite a bit before the plane actually departs. It's great visual/audio work that gives a lot of the feel of the plane without the vibrations you'd normally feel through "seat of the pants". Both of those have higher wingloading and lower drag wing designs and are noted for their sharper stalls. Pilot notes on the FW190 talk about how the plane is controllable until entering the stall where the aircraft tends to violently flick and roll without much warning. I'm not a FM expert (and don't want to get into a debate there) but I think that the character of those two is certainly captured in your comments when compared to their reputations. Types like the Yak and 109 certainly buffet a fair bit before they depart. 2
TRA_Rogue Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 The effect is there and perfectly noticeable. Especially through the force feedback of my g940 1
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 My only anecdotal counterpoint is the 190 stall could be quite sudden and resulted in a snap over to the outside of the turn, often resulting in inverted flight, according to some sources.
TG-55Panthercules Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 And, indeed it is :-/ Sorry guys - I had Head Shaking disabled :-( It actually feels great ! So am I understanding this correctly - the FFB stall buffeting effect is tied to having to have the "head shaking" graphical setting ticked? Seriously?? 1

Yes, sorry you misunderstood me, I was saying that some aircraft have less of a buffet or no buffet at all before they stall, not that it doesn't work for some!
-TBC-AeroAce Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I have no problem what so ever sensing the pre stall warnings!! Also remember some aircraft give little or no warning even once fully stalled
SCG_Neun Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) How about some Jimmy "Buffet" ing.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7Ah-Ch8NQ4 Edited May 2, 2015 by JagdNeun
361fundahl Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Yes you can fly right on the edge of the envelope in inside view by the shaking and sound.... Outside view you really have no idea except for the condensation points at the tips of the wings.
