SharpeXB Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Wow this is going to be on display at the Smithsonian's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center http://www.warhistoryonline.com/military-vehicle-news/the-only-surviving-horten-ho-229-hitlers-stealth-fighter.html 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Nice to see it's finally being restored. They should not forget about their Ta 152 H-0/1 either while they're at it. Don't know if Ho 229 is the right declaration though. It was called Ho IX by the Horten brothers (as it was infcat their 9th plane build) with Go 229 being the production name (in germany planes were always named by their producer, not deisgner). Ho 229 is more likely a mashup created by confusion that somehow does float around more than the actual right names it had (Ho IX and Go 229). Anyway, I don't intend to ride this off topic.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I always remember that the first time I saw pictures of the Ho as a kid I thought it was something from a science fiction film.
voncrapenhauser Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Love that design. Will be a long refurbishment. Look forward to the outcome.
