Apparently we're getting the Vb and Vc, so Heinkels are pretty much dust now... unless the Spit gets a 109 on it's 6.

I was ignoring that fact, but it is historical

Why do I have a feeling that the british cannons are gonna be stronger and better than the germans ones ?

Posted

I think those 303´s are more powerful than those minengeshuzz

Posted

The 303s are the normal 7.62mm guns, which of course are not stronger than the 20mm Minengeschosse.

Aren´t the british 20mm cannons Bofors guns, so almost the same like the german MG/FF.

IIRC bofors were 37mm, no ?

I believe the English fighters were armed with Hispano-Suiza cannons.

Maybe because your sympathy towards German aircraft makes you suspect everyone of hidden intentions to hit German aircraft ?

I dunno. It's the last thing that would come to my mind when thinking of CloD and TF...

@up Yes, those were Hispano cannons.

And those were early models with 60-round drum magazines. I wonder if things like freezing at high altitudes and often experienced by pilots jams will be modeled as well. And if the Vokes air filter controversy will be the thing ?

Well the Hispanics will be more powerful than the MGFF, as they should be.

Probably about equal to the MF 151, but they'll have two of the hispanos.

The Spitfire cannon jams don't happens with Spit Ib from BoB times?

TF say that don't model this version, because if done correctly virtual pilots will not accept their cannons jamming, as usual. :)

Vokes air filter will be modeled, someone ask for Aboukir air filter - local made in Egypt and more streamlined  - but was considered inappropriate for TF 5.0 map period.

As far as I'm aware jams were a notorious issue for all Spitfires including Vb and Vc and were happening until late 1943. But other thing is that Hispano 20mm cannon was peculiarly sensitive to cold, which did not bode well for gun reliability after prolonged flight at high altitudes. To make matters worse, the gun’s inherent problems were exacerbated by the failure of the aircraft’s gun heating system. In Battle of Britain era Mark 1 Spitfires, the freezing up of the .303 inch Browning machine guns at altitude had prompted a simple modification, by which hot air from the radiator was ducted into the wing cavity and then vented through an exit port on the underside of the outer wings. With the Mark VB’s introduction of the hyper-sensitive Hispano 20mm in 1941, this system had had to be supplemented by a second, heavier-duty heating system. Air was now heated at the exhaust manifold and thence ducted outboard through the wings to the cannons via a system of aluminium piping. This was known as Modification 314, applied part way through the Mark V production run.

Anyway, thats a fair answer. I was just curious :)

Absolutely correct Space_Ghost. And if I'm not mistaken, they had a higher ballistic damage potential than the minenshcoss load outs of the cannon armed emils. They did have major issues with jamming, and as was said earlier, this issue was not sorted out until part way through the production of the spitV. As far as I am aware, anyway.

Hey all,

Have a question, maybe someone can clarify or help out in some fasion? Windows 10 Pro, just had a major and very recent update.. The problem I'm having at the moment is: Cliffs of Dover no longer launches? It used to launch fine before this major update however? I own X2 ligit copies, (one of which is a steam version). I, like many, am waiting patiently for the TF 5.0 update to be released, therefor have a clean install awaiting this version. A guess as to why Cliff's no longer launches may have something to do with the hooks, and the very recent update from Windows?

Boomerang,

I've had windows 10 since February on a new PC, its completely up to date as far as I know and CoD works just fine, I don't think windows 10 is an issue, can't guarantee it though.

Cheers

If you are using CloD "vanila" - STEAM only version - is need use the Cloder.exe as Launcher.exe replacement - as need for Windows8.

CloD + TF patches has this issue fixed. When I did Win 10 upgrade weeks ago I need do nothing for continue run CloD, DCS, BoS, Arma3.

I meant, is it a feature of the game that the canopy can be jammed by damage and impossible to jettison?

I didn't see your post being answered so I thought I might. Drawing from my own experience in CloD I was flying a 109 one night and got damaged bad enough so that I could not open my canopy. So I would say yes, this is modelled in the game or so it seems.

Oleg and his team did a marvelous job trying to bring fourth the NEXT generation flight sim. Perhaps his expectations were too high (not in my opinion) but still CloD is still marvelous. More so with TF.

Thanks Soko, yes thats the *.exe and *.dll, (version 0.0.02), that is no longer working here with the steam version, (after the latest win10 update was accepted).

S! and thanks again.

The audio isn't present as it was a luvestream to Teamspeak....but you this will give you an insight into the level of detail we are going to :)

I flew the JU 52B today on ATAG server, a real beaut visually and you can have axis for everything. Long time since I flew COD now. It was fun

crap did I really write 52 B ?

Anyway spend a eternity setting up my new stick and panels for COD and flew the 110 late last night . And there are a significant better quality in those Luftwaffe planes . I am not sure forgetting your radiators deserve such a swift and fast consequence. But it is refreshing not getting a icon reminding you.

Flying with bomb and a purpose give you a chance at least, surviving by hide and seek.

I  survived 4 attacks from hurricanes and spitfires in my JU 87 , thanks to BF 109 flyers supporting me and the maneuverability of the Stuka in COD, witch btw I am not quite sure is historical. But using Rudel as a reference , he did not look at fighters as a major threat . Flying Stuka with confidence is a difference between COD and BOS.

But historical or not it give confidence, Late model BF 110 C7 Give you a fighting chance to run away giving enough altitude. At least from Hurricanes, with cleverness you can actually be the better man in a underdog plane. It slowly bring back why I loved this game so much for so long.

The main difference is ofcource the massive map compared to BOS, and the advantage I know the map so well, easier landmarks make navigation so much easier

Just wish TF could get the source code some day. 1C doesn't give a vermin's buttocks about it anymore, except taking the money they get from the still ongoing sales. TF keeps it alive. Why not making an agreement that they can get the code but can not PROFIT from it in ANY way, keeping it as it is now as free updates done by TF? And the code would be for TF only, not to be spread out.
