Any news about the weird "swamp" like effect on distant terrain, coolant boiling (perforated radiator erryday), ground friction or AI improvements?

Coolant boiling? Due to being hit by enemy fire?

Coolant boiling? Due to being hit by enemy fire?

Just in general operation. It seems like boiling the coolant always results in perforated radiators.

It does indeed, and that is an issue with the game engine! Especially the 109 had a pressure release valve when coolant was boiling but it was never modeled by 1C. It is however being looked at. First, TF has finally been able to "crush" the atmosphere density bug and that will now require the FMs and engine parameters to be tweaked accordingly.

However, if your radiator is always boiling, you might be doing something else wrong. The only time my coolant leaks/boils is when I have been hit and not from normal flying...

Thanks Kling, that's good news.

It's not always boiling by the way, just sometimes when I have to work the engine hard and have a momentary lapse in monitoring the temps. I don't expect bad management to be forgiven but it will be nice to be able to catch the problem in time since running at high performance power settings is a fact of life in combat aircraft, especially fighters. This problem annoyed me so much and it will make a big difference to have it fixed.

Swamp distance 'issue' has also been resolved :)

Two of the most annoying problems resolved. Nice job!

Is there some Oculus Rift users who want to play guinea pig?

As it seems there will be OR support with the upcoming TF 5.0. Currently, TF would like to get some feedback on their demo images.

We'll have more news on this in 3-4 weeks..... :)

Hats off to you and the team MP.

Salute!

How is the graphics ( with Team Fusion mods ) compared to BoS ?

3840 x 2160 res support ?

Cliffs' cockpits use trickery to produce a 3D image and are actually assembled from 2D sprites. BOS' are actually rendered in 3D.

Cockpit textures lean towards Cliffs but it's really hard to give them that with the whole 2D sprites/optical illusions.

BOS gets a clear advantage in clouds and water - the rendering looks pretty good but there is always room for improvement.

Light shafts, shadows, SSAO, etc. is another win for BOS.

Graphical fidelity insofar as ground textures and object texturing (buildings, roads, etc.) are otherwise pretty similar with the advantage leaning towards BOS.

That's my own two cents with 270+ hours in Cliffs of Dover and 220+ hours in BOS.

You are very much mistaken on this point, the Cliffs cockpits aver pure 3D and no trickery whatsoever.

No, I'm not incorrect. The cockpits are built from numerous 2D sprites.

That is the original Il-2 series. Clod definitely used 3D rendered pieces.

I assure you they are not 2D sprites, Team Fusion are certainly not building 2D cockpits for their mod, it is plainly obvious they are 3D when you look at the way the shadows interact and move your viewpoint in 6DOF.

And we must not forget that the BOS series is using much of the 3D content from Cliffs and it's cancelled sequel.

Have a look at the 109 foot pedals.

They are two dimensional sprites that are animated in a three dimensional environment.

Look at the back of the stick in the 109 - actually, there isn't a back of the stick because it is a two dimensional sprite animated in a three dimensional environment.

No part of Cliffs uses 2D sprites sorry, clearly you are convinced of the theory though.

if you were ever watching the development of Cliffs when it was being called 'storm of war' you would have seen renders of the 3D cockpit environments, there was also the bonus DVD included with IL2 1946 showing the 3D cockpit work.

I very much liked that video of the Beaufighters doing strafing runs. The AA flak really made its presence felt.

Team Fusion Update - June 29th 2016 - Announcing the new theatre/map - Competition

On July 31st 2016 we will be showing for the first time some Alpha work that has been created of the upcoming new theatre/map. The update will include details of the location, a couple of images and a few short videos. All the work is quite literally Work in Progress and textures/scenery and features are very, very much subject to change.

However while we prepare that update here's your chance to get in on the beta test of TF v5.00 which will be a very restricted (10 people or less) once the Beta Candidate becomes available.

To be in with a chance of getting in on the Beta Test just say which Theatre you think it will be, what area of that Theatre (name 3 towns or cities in the area) and finally the size of the map. The current BoB map is 240km x 240km to give you an idea of the size you currently fly in.

Post your answers at this link:

Entries can be made up until July 30th 2016 (British Summertime (BST)).

The competition is not open to previous or current Team Fusion Members!

Answers will be judged after July 31st announcement and closest to getting all three correct will hear from Team Fusion once the Beta becomes available.

Good luck and spread the word. July 31st is going to be a big day for us, hopefully you too!

Cheers, MP/TF

So today's the day. However this update is going to be a little different. I am not actually going to talk at-all in-depth about the new theatre, no details, no waffling, just a link to this video which shows the new map in it's very, very early stages of texturing and populating.

In terms of the map itself, we now have the physical map approx 90% complete. By that I mean we need to add updated textures, towns, roads, features, lots to do actually but the base of the map is complete and here it is:

Feel free to discuss what you have seen in this thread, share it far and wide, spread the word but at-last you are able to see the theatre we have been working on for far too long in secret. Now that it's out in the open, it will be possible to show you new features, models, textures, buildings in future updates that have stayed under wraps until the Team decided it was time to reveal the news.
