Hi I have been in this site for a year now I have several Alias LuseKofte, Le0ne, LG 1 Jaeger

I am one of those guys enjoying BOS , COD and a little DCS.

I absolutely love all aspects of WW2 combatsims. 

I just noticed that TF lost a place to update their progression Toward TF 5.0 . I understand why . BOS vs COD arguments are more destructive for the genre than anything else. We are all enjoying the genre and please leave it like that.

 

I opened this topic for one reason, I am on all camps, I am active here and over at ATAG . I enjoy BOS for what it is, same goes for COD.

There are absolutely no reason for anyone to take part of this topic telling us they do not like COD. I respect that, but please this topic is for those who do. 

If you choose to do this anyway, I hope your post get deleted, it only shows you want to kill this tread.

So please Buzz and Mystic , there are people genuine interested

I enjoy both Clod and BoS for what they are too, but I am curious if you have opened a similar thread on the ATAG forum?  Bos  updates. Bos features. This is a genuine question and I'm not trying to be adversarial or flippant.

Yes, Le0ne does post there also, and gets flack for being positive of BoS, unfortunately in the 14 pages there are 27 locked topics seems many flight sim fans have poor discussion skills

I’m not walking down any path other than to ask what I think is a valid question.

 

Both Clod and BoS have positive and negative aspects to them, if we only focus on positive aspects and ignore everything else then what is the point of a forum for either title?

 

The last Clod Topic was closed because an individual started attacking the Dev’s , bringing politics into the debate and insulting other forum members.

That is clearly not what anybody should want.

 

I fly in both sims and enjoy them very much, this is not about which one is best but about having an adult discussion about the positives and negatives, (and there are plenty in both titles) and that should be encouraged in my view.

That one is just a beauty , thinking of the great prospect of being able to fly P-40 in both sim´s  is magical. I am not sure when, but I recall a plan about having it on the next patch. 5.0 together with a more important plane . The Wellington.

 

I agree a discussion and shared opinions on a sim is important in a forum, but this specific topic is devoted to COD. I see absolutely no reason for information about those telling me they do not like COD. IF they got specific criticism well bring it over to TF section on ATAG site, they might look into it.

My idea is to give new fliers a perspective and several choices , there are good alternatives to BOS. And for my sake I got time and interest for both

I was quite surprised that the Clod V's BoS debate is alive and well on that forum. I was curious to see the difference between the 2 forums  and there is plenty of Bos bashing going on over there.

I wasn't going to reply to this but why should I be removed and why is it necessarily to have a TF Clod update thread on a forum for a sim that is in effect the competition? 

 

And before anyone else adds their two pence worth, I do enjoy both BoS and Clod and yes staying on topic, I'm looking forward to 5.0 but I hope that the run on rails handling and particularly the point at the runway and you nail it landing process is looked at in the new update.

It seems that anyone can be critical of BoS on its own forum but if folks are the least bit critical about Clod people lose it.

None of the CFS ww2 are perfect or absolutely historical. It is a question of playability also. And TF /COD got another approach , another perspective. And that is like it or not a good thing, it make both very interesting in their own way.

Le0ne, I was trying to be fair and impartial about both sims  and yep neither are perfect, but there is so much to like about both.

While not needing this much detail in the damage visuals, personally, it does make me long for better damage decals in BOS. Somewhere between the two would be nice. The gray/black splotches aren't very convincing at all in this sim.

Guys I am part of TF but I still appreciate BOS! I think many of us are ww2 avaiation fanatics and as such I love every sim that lets me fly war combat aircraft(with propellers)! I LOVED ROF for its stunning FMs and DMs! Its one of the first games that actually let me have the feeling of flight infront of a computer. I know the feeling of flight very well as I got my gliders licence at the age of 16, my PPL at the age of 20 and for the last 7years have clocked 5300h+ of flying.

 

I also appreciate BOS, although I am not a big fan of winter landscape. I very much look forward to BOM with its summer landscape. I might not speak for all TF members( actually I have no idea what people think of BOS) or many CLOD players but I personally have lots of respect for the ROF/BOS/BOM/ team as their passion seems to be in the right place to create very good ww2 sims.

I persobally stoped flying ROF when it took too long for the important FM update. Ive tried it afterwards and it is still a beautiful game although now a days pretty empty online

BOS also has to grow on me, thefe are still too many things that annoy me, such as 48 people max online, smoke effects that seem a bit to Hollywoodish. Im sure these things will get better as the game matures As all games do if they are well taken care of!

 

Now THIS does not mean that I wont love to also mod Clod. Each sim is good at different things.

That is very odd. It must be an AI because in Cliffs of Dover you just can't bail out of your aircraft. You must open or blow your canopy first. That's one feature about it I really love, it's a two stage thing . Being able to pull on your emergency release lever and hear that wind howling around you and still be able to fly along.

Never seen that slogan either, and as far of the word feud that went on between the camps, it is pretty much over. Of course you can see some left in other sites. But such things are better left unanswered. 

COD is magnificent in so many ways, it brings the opportunity to give you a feeling of flying in a real squad, this is due to a very good community that have over the last yeas grown to be very serious. I am sure this are happening with BOS too, where COD does not excel BOS does and visa versa.

The main thing is both games are bringing new pilots into the genre. Wether we like it or not , people will migrate between these two , and some will even reinstall or have their first taste of old IL 2. 

And I can only recommend it. After all neither of these new sim´s will ever get the number of maps, planes, objects and campaigns like good old IL 2

Yes that is how it started. I mentioned it and shortly after they changed it to "1cgs's upcoming il2 title" but no hallusination that's EXACTLY what it used to say. But this was over a year ago.

Well I don't know what to tell you. Thats how it was. But they changed it (Again nearly 2 years ago). At the time, the attitude over at atag seemed to match with a statement as crude as that one was. However over the last six months there has really been a cooling of the Jets as it were and civil conversation has found its way back. It seems to have switched with another sim forum who I won't mention but rhymes with Tim buck two. I digress.

 

I know it's fanciful, but I'd love to see tf expand their modding to 1CGS's new title. Of course, 1cgs will need to open up its new game a little bit.
