You do realize that you can customize the default front view for each aircraft yes?

So Bearcat stated. The answer for me at least is no.

I have keys set up for pilot head movement but I get no response. I suppose that is because I use TrackIR.

Anyway, please do instruct me.

The choice that you end messing the things is big that improve then, but: :)

Uriah, you have to pause TrackIR, then make the changes on the view, press F10 to save the position, then unpause TrackIR.

Yep.

F9-make adjustments to personal preference-F10-and then F9 again. Recent er the track ir and it should go where you want it.

Works very well for me, made the FW much more enjoyable.

No need to. You have to forget about the keys, move your body/head where you want it to be when "centered" and use F10 key to save your current position as "central". You may want to temporarily change where "central" position of your TrackIR is (default key is F12 or shiift-F12).

Short version: use TrackIR to look into gunsights (that's where you want to be looking?), lean back while looking into gunsight to get better FoV, hit F10, done.

Long version: If you want to have your body default position to the right, lean to the right and hit F10. If you want the default body position further right, lean to the right and hit F10 again, and again... each F10 moves the "default" to your current point of view, and since you are leaning right you "teleport" further from new default position. If you want to shift body position really far to the right, lean to the left, hit F12 to make TrackIR think that's where you normally sit, then lean to the right to move very far in TrackIR, hit F10, adjust. When done, sit comfortably and hit F12 to let TrackIR know where you normally sit.

Had not thought to try that, makes a lot of sense for on the fly adjustments.

I would be careful using it on the go, it can be tricky sometimes to get it perfect again!! Also top tip once u set ur new position make sure u check it fully zoomed in because the gunsight might not be fully visible

I use half way zoomed in. I find that if I zoom out to the far back, the gunsight gets difficult too see, but if I fully zoom in, the front view gets borked in some planes (like the 190).

OK, Trupobaw, I did as you suggested with TrackIR. That was interesting. But leads me back to my original conclusion. The pilots point of view in this game is bonkers.

Again, not a horrid thing. Something I can live with. But I have a hard time believing that a typical Soviet pilot had such a hard time looking at the fuel gauge on the wings of the Yak-1. True it can be done. But I doubt it was that difficult to do so.

Which leads to another thought. If one pilot was tall and his friend was short and they got in the same plane then I would think there would be some way to adjust the gun sight to match the pilot.

Are my suspensions right?

The seat hight was adjustable in most WW2 aircraft.

You can hold default Numpad key 5 and change position in cockipt, press F10 and relise num 5. I have default zoom but moved my virtual body forward (more real). For fine adjustments (gunsight) one shuld change speed and inertia of pan cams (lower values) then try adjust position.

Open the cockpit and stretch the neck.
