Mungee Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 For some strange reason my key settings have got corrupted: eg for "escape" - the settings show the "ESC" key, but the "ESC" key doesn't function - if I try changing the key, the window in which one makes the change show "Ctrl- Esc" (not "Esc") and as much as I try and revert it back to Esc, it won't let me!! The same thing happened with "recording" and "player cockpit" commands! I have NOT made changes to the key settings, something else has! The one key was set as "locomotive E" (as I recall)!! I have mapped my keys to a Rhino X555 H.O.T.A.S. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
xvii-Dietrich Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I've been having no end of trouble with key mappings. I too have seen "E locomotive" and have no idea what it means. I've scoured the entire key set and this is the only use of "E". The only thing that I can think of is that it might have something to with different keyboard layouts. I use "Finnish layout" (default laptop layout) and "UK layout" (external keyboard layout). I've tried both and I get the same on both, so thing might not be it. I'm just guessing.
Chief_Mouser Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Got the Esc key not working problem yesterday. It was fine for a couple of SP missions then wouldn't work either on joystick or keyboard. Damn nuisance when I wanted to get off at the Exit Point due to damage. Cheers.
G_GART Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 In BOS, all key mapping are stored in 2 files called "current.actions" and "current.map" located in :\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input folder, you can open these files with notepad and edit manually and save your changes, (NOTE! Your changes have to be made in both files) but make a backup of these files before you change them. because when you open them you will read "IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE ANYTHING HERE! " and "Well, it is still possible, but on your own risk."
Chief_Mouser Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I don't have a problem with permanent key corruption; it just happens every now and then for no apparent reason during a mission, and is always back to normal after a game restart. Nevertheless, I DO have my files backed up - just in case! Cheers.
