The LaGG-3 is so lovely looking, as are the two skins demonstrated in the Loft screenshots. I can't wait to start training on the LaGG-3.

S! Looks good ether way. THX for the pics.

That's a nice big gun sticking out of that prop hub. :)

Love the light/materials interaction. Looks pretty natural.

The lighting and reflections on the Lagg-3 look very good.

Luckily it doesn't have that plastic modelkit appearance like some other sims have.

Jaws,

Do you know if that is a 23 mm cannon or a 37 mm cannon? :salute: MJ

I really like how the canopy looks in the light.

I agree, the models look just fantastic.

Fixed that for ya.

I like the latest version of the skin. I'm really looking forward to flying it!

I'm not sure if Lagg-3 was ever equipped with 37 mm canon. But some planes used VYa 23 mm.

LaGG-3 at Stalingrad at timeframe 19.XI.42 - 2.II.43:

15 iap flew LaGG-3 to 25.XII.42

291 iap (220 iad) flew LaGG-3-37 from 19.IX.42 to 25.XI.42

739 iap (from 18.XII.42 in 2 bak, from  early I.43 in 220 iad) flew LaGG-3.

That was the only LaGG-3 regiments there during autumn-winter 1942/43.

I hope to see some DM demo screenshots. I miss the showings of aircraft with all the holes and other damage on the thatch.

What's the technique used to obtain those reflections? Ray-tracing?

Simple shaders, as in all games. Each pixel in your screen runs  a fragment program where lighting is calculated. GPUs are not made to  ray trace, also in mostly empty space (like  air where planes are, raytracing  gains nothign over  traditional raster techniques.

Mmm, sounds reasonable.

Love the way I can "feel" the bruised plates on the plane's nose in this pic (look at the red part/reflections)

wondering if the shaders will have the same behaviour as in Wings of Prey, where plates and bolts reflect differently making it look sooo nice.

Anyway, glad to see the global feeling here is METAL, not "plastic scale model"

And thank you for the tech infos.

First, than you to Prager and Panzerbar foir the LaGG-3 info and second....

Wow that looks GREAT!

The LaGG-3 is so very beautiful and the skin really complements her good looks. Seeing two sleek looking LaGG-3s, with pretty skins like this one, working a high speed Thach Weave together will look great in a Youtube video. :salute: MJ

I love this skin too. And tovaritch looks as if it could have been written out like that with 1940's technology.

Yes, the writing looks great and plausible. Even the red stripe design is historically plausible. I am fairly certain that there was a historical LaGG-3 with a very similar design. (a Mig-3 too, I think) I can't wait to start up that LaGG-3!    :joy:

That's most likely a 37mm gun. I think is the K37. From what i could google in the last ten minutes, :) , the 23mm cannon doesn't stick out that much out of the prop hub.

Either way, it should be fun turning He111s in confeti with that thing. :)

Jaws,

Yeah! This LaGG-3 gunship will be one heck of a bomber interceptor. She should be a lot of fun. Now we just need some more pictures of the Yak-1's that will be escorting this gunship to those He111s.
