How to save our configuration?

Recommended Posts

I just spent the last two nights finally setting up my game bindings and my HOTAS. Many of the default game commands were changed and I'd like to back these up.

Where would I find these config files?

Thanks to War for starting this thread and to Luke for answering it. But an addon question if you will. Is anyone having any troubles between the different planes setting them up and having difined (i.e. differant) setting for each aircraft and keeping them? I've tried to search the forums but came up blank. Most likely didn't search correctly but ...

You cant create inputs for each plane like in DCS. They are universal input controls.

You can do that using 3rd party apps like the saitek software for example.

Thanks Jade but by universal doe sthis mean they apply to ALL aircraft and not to EACH individual aircraft? I've heard ( I have the Saitek X52 Pro) that there is a lot of conflict in using this software (the profiler if this is what you mean) and thus I do not use it.

The saitek profiles have their quirks but work. It's a bit of a pain to set up but hopefully you only have to do it once

Chief the commands are universal and work for all aircraft, there are exceptions though, like the Trim(stabilizer) for the 109s and 190, they have exclusive keymappings!

About the saitek software... I use a X65F and the saitek software and they do work. As already said, it has its quirks, but you only need to set them up once  :)

Not necessarily "exclusive", here the same keys (keyboard arrows up/down and HAT+modifier) that trim elevator in Russian planes, "adjust stabilizer" in Bf 109 (no "uFwo"-190) and other Luftwaffe, just matter to do your personal keyboard layout. Same principle used for water radiator, cowl flaps, etc.   ;)

When satisfied with you personal layout copy and save somewhere the files current.map and current.actions in data\input\.

The "default" layout is awkward. This game commands (remember, "less key is better"...  ) don't need profiles exclusive for each aircraft, this only add confusion

What I meant by exclusive is that they have their own keymappings, which is different from the russian planes trim keymapping, but that doesnt stop you from mapping them to use the same key on the keyboard, like I do.  ;)
