I'm asking this on behalf of my squadmate, he's a truck driver, on the road most of the time, and he's frequently completely offline. Is there a way to start up and play the game with no connectivity at all? I tried experimenting on my PC (just unplugged the Ethernet cable, and tried to launch the game) but the launcher was stuck on "Failed to update" and that was it...

I suppose the game must be up-to-date to launch it offline ? Didnt try that myself. Can do this evening.

I just checked.  Unplugged my Ethernet thingy and tried to start.  Got the same failed to start message.  It appears that in order to start the game to play using the offline option, you must first be online...

Is it the same with RoF? Havent tried that either.

Just tried this, if you open your game directory/file location and double click the red star, IL-2 Application rather than the launcher all will be fine and the game plays no probs.

Make sure he is aware of the limits of playing offline. Like not being able to play the SP campaign for one...
