Now this is my kind of odds  :)

Pehaps the twelve of them were all huggin and lovin each another in just three He-111's.  But whatever the reason, I couldn't find them.  I did ask if there was anything I could get them, but just being together must have been all they really needed because I didn't get a reply.

:salute:

Never tell me the odds. I hate it when they tell me the odds.

LOL, safety in numbers I guess.

You can encircle them all and finish them.

Perhaps you couldn't find them because you took a reciprocal course to the vector given by control?

says a lot about BOS MP doesn't it?

12 vs 1, seems fair! Haha interestingly enough i had the complete opposit experience last night on DED server, think the teams were 6 or so axies vs 16 allies. Was great fun btw, its always nice with a target rich environment.  :hunter:

No it certainly doesn't. There was three busy servers last night and even at 1am UK time that DED server had a fairly even balance of players but obviously numbers diminish by that time of night.

p.s There's more people online in BOS right now than on ATAG or Hyperlobby 1946

lol mate, thats not what the pic says. My point is that people sometimes forget about making sides even. You know it when there's more of you than them...when there's 5 of you circling the battlefield with no enemy in sight...you WILL tend to look at how many players are playing (and on each side).

Emil, you are cherry picking your data set.

More often than not, the Axis outnumber the VVS, and you guys NEVER will change sides to even things up, EVER.

I just don't understand how that can be fun at all, and the LW virtual pilots always have done this as far back as my time with the original IL2 started.

And when called out on this behavior, it's always the same, tired defense. "We are experten and only fly one type of aircraft!"   Well, if you were all really "experten" you should take LaGG 3s and show us all just how good you really are, and not just take the easy way out with your moon rocket BnZ aircraft.

I know one thing for a fact though, if the Spitfire or P51 had the FMs of the 109, none of you would have a JG in front of your name.

Oh, and for those that are always on the receiving end of this behavior, here is what to do.

If you are out numbered by a vast amount, and the other side will not even it up, just switch to their side and give them nothing to shoot at.

It will work, I've seen it happen.

It was about 2pm GMT, although I'm not sure why that is consideration.

Because people go to bed?

We're all talking about there being twelve players all piled onto the German side against just one guy.  What are you talking about?

I'm talking about the fact that I was on that server flying for VVS side about 1 hour before you took that screenshot and the sides were even.

One screenshot doesn't represent anything about MP. I flew a lot last night and up to the point I left it was just fine.

So probably what happened is a lot of people who were flying red including myself went to bed...these things happen.

Did you think to look in on some of the other servers? TWB tends to be hotting up at that time...or were you looking for an opportunity to moan about MP?

I can say on almost daily basis that on Fresh Meat its happening very often that German side has the numerical advantage. Sometimes its opposite and you will find more Allies than Luftwaffe pilots, so I do not hesitate and jump into my 109 ... but just sharing my experience I can tell you that way often I got to fly a LaGG 3. And to be honest, I love it ! Its just not fun to see more guys on your tail than you can handle :(

And I say you're talking rubbish. I joined JG5 in 2002 and we had to suffer ridiculous FMs of Allied aircraft in the original IL2 for years. But we were good because we were disciplined and often flew against much better aircraft.

Maybe the people moaning about being killed by 109s should fly tactically and in groups and not join the merry go round 500m off the deck and then cry about being B&Zed by them.

Oh and I fly the Yak online a fair bit when my squad isn't around because I enjoy it but as we are a LW squad we fly 109s mostly online....that is how it was in 2001 and that is how it is now, it's got nothing to do with one aircraft being better otherwise we'd fly the F4 which has an advantage on the G2.

The reason is more likely to be because the LW aircraft has automatic prop pitch which tends to attract new guys.

I fly VVS as well, I've started to like the Russian aircraft a lot.

Still what can people expect from a DF server....it's just fast food. When we get squad v squad co-ops going things will be a lot more fun.

Hey Emil, dont get upset. I dont think anyone had anything bad on his mind, its just a game after all. And besides, if you like Yak I can suggest you LaGG 3. Its slower, heavier, stalls and all this stuff but I found it giving me a lot of satisfaction. It also rolls nicely, I can recall more than dozen of situations when 109s were just sitting on my tail and wasting ammo because they just could not keep in rolls and some weird up and down maneuvers.

Peace.

No, on Fresh meat settings are like normal in campaign so no prop pitch control for both sides, no radiator control, etc. You can switch to manual and I do it but most dont.

Yeh I don't fly on normal settings but the 109 does get more pilots. Its a good aircraft as it was in the real world and the auto prop pitch makes life much easier.

I fly online quite a bit and I really don't see such a huge disparity, if it's that bad then I tend to fly VVS but if it's a squad night we're going to fly 109s because that is what we do and what we've always done.

I need to get back to building co-ops really, I took a break while I concentrated on learning more about making groups. I think once people experience flying team versus team then they will see what they've been missing.

I think having semi-historical missions where the LW are outnumbered or forced to perform missions which puts them in a disadvantage would be pretty cool.

I think having any kind of historical missions is pretty neat ;)

And well, I often fly on Fresh meat due to lack of time. But Syndicate and Loose Deuce Heavy Metal also gave me lot of fun.

I too fly 'Fresh Meat' just so I can find the enemy. I do understand the FULL REAL guys but if I am going to fly online and expect to find anyone I need some better hints. Eagles Nest is trying.

And as far as realism goes. I am sure there were many a time fighters would go up and look for the enemy and not find them. That is fine in real war. But for me to set down and play a computer game, it leaves me flat.

The old axiom "Hours of boredom followed by seconds of sheer terror" pretty well describes real WW2 air combat.  At an airshow a few years ago I talked to a former LW pilot that flew E7s in the jabo role on the Ost Front.  He said he never saw a Russian airplane his whole time there.

All great from a historical standpoint, but that's not what I want from the time I have to play online with any of my "simulations".  The whole idea of an air combat simulation, for me and most of the folks I used to fly with, is air combat or ground attack.  It's not flying around for an hour twiddling our thumbs.  If we are going to fly we want a reason to, an objective that is known, that will have an effect on the outcome of the overall mission, and one that is at least achievable if we do our part properly.

We don't want two bases 10km apart and a fur ball between them, contrary to what some of the super hard core players think.

The current state of this title, with it's limited servers, and numbers of players, just is not offering the rewarding, and fun, experiences that we want to see from a combat flight simulator.

Personally I love to manage all the systems on my aircraft, and shudder at the thought of icons and padlock, but it sure would be nice to have a look outside at my own aircraft from time to time, especially when taking off from an unfamiliar airfield.  And having my location, and only mine, show on the map would be great too, especially on a featureless white wasteland like the big map is.

But no.  We now have the hegemony of the extremists.   It's all or nothing, full difficulty or full clown car settings.   Both of which leave a vast number of players behind, looking for some other title to play.

Think about it.

I know this is OT but that is an interesting comment: initially it seems counter-intuitive, but then when you look at the size of the front and the compare with the numbers involved, given that he was doing ground attack it seems believable. Not knowing at what time your contact was in action or for how long, but even so, interesting.

What the picture says to me almost immediately is a bunch of friends and a few others who wanted to participate decided to practice together. Probably a bunch of formation flying or escort practice with bombers up high. It's how squadrons form organically.

Oh, I'm not crying. I think it's cute. Anyway like I said at the start, I like being outnumbered. It concentrates the mind.
