Skoshi_Tiger Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Thanks for posting that video. I find these first hand accounts are priceless. I guess you can get a list of technical data from test results and charts but that does nothing to add to the atmosphere of the time. And you get to pickup some interesting bits of info. Wooden props on a '44 Spitfire, who'd have thought. Cheers!
=LD=Hethwill Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This is great. Thanks for reminding me, seen it before and worth to watch it again.
Bearcat Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 One thing that kind of got me was I often looked at ditching in IL2 and wondered how realistic it was but from the looks as far as the slide time it is very close to reality considering the known stall speed of a Spitfire and the way that plane came in and the time it took it to come to a full stop. He also said that all they had to do was fix the prop and the radiator and it was back in the air.
352nd_Wheels Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Enjoyed he video. Considering his age I was surprised the pilot was still alive to see the video. Wheels
