I remember when I first heard Tolwyn's song.. great days..

do you guys remember this excellent flick`? Back in those days we didn't have the computer power to capture in game footage in 30 fps.. so we had to run tracks at half speed, capture in 15fps and then speed it up to twice the speed... loosing the sound.. it took dayz to make a decent video with editing, rendering and stuff.. I am looking forward to BoS track possibilities and all the great flicks we will see! :)

Yes I've seen that too. I don't miss too much. Every day I do a search for videos.

This one is from the first movie contest ever put on by IL-2 I believe in early 2003 I think. It won 3rd place. I have the others on a disk some where. You can see though how some guys systems needed updating, especialy over Berlin witch was a big frame sucker.  :)

That's my favorite IL-2 movie of all time. I am a huge North Africa fan. I see it's Werner Schroer who gets Niki by the "Adjutant" on his fuselage. The music is fantastic in this movie also.

And also this one is about the first North African IL-2 movie made, "Seas Of Sand"

what a wonderful game it was. The game of my many "first" regarding flight simulators. I took the plunge and joined a squad and I never regret that. Even if by now our activities are way more scattered, it brings back a whole bunch of amazing memories.

The thing I will never forget was my first go in a coop mission... which happened to be one of my shortest. I was totally freaking out when the mission started as I was the "new guy" amongst many veterans. As I got the "go" from the flight leader, I went pedal-to-the-metal on the take off, once at takeoff speed I grab my stick and pulled it..aaaaand cras!

then on the next coop, I learned that even behind a desk comfortably installed in your house, you realize that YOU ARE in a P-38 for a 2h Combat mission and you will loose a couple of liter of sweat and be exhausted when you turn your computer down.

But above it all, there was this feeling you got when after a while off living your real live, you jump back in a cockpit and tell yourself "Damned this game is awesomly beautiful and immersive".

Thanks for posting these films. There are a lot of great ones here that I havent seen yet. Really looking forward to what people will create with BoS.

here is one that I made with CloD

(hardware fail caused me to have to break it up into sections, ended up losing all my work on part 3, will redo when the frustration has worn off. part 1 stands alone by itself pretty well I feel)

Looking very good there, look forward to seeing it finished!

It will be hard to top that leap forward in Flight Simming we got from Il2, I still think a lobby to chat before gaming should be a priority, even if not flying I would still be on HL most of the time to chat to mates, organise missions etc.

The Hyperlobby is great for giving people links to patches, help with info about aircraft, squad websites it goes on and on and everything is at hand.

This is my biggest worry. I believe Jason acknowledged that there was a strong desire for this in ROF and that was in 2009! For me at least a chat in the Multiplay lobby before entering a game is absolutely vital for later online wars/co-op style play.

I put this down in the suggestions thread by Blacksix, if you feel strongly please give it a vote up.

Just reinstalled IL-2 and was shocked how bad the ground texture looked, it was amazing back in the day. Or maybe it was just one of the weaker maps.

These are my favorites videos, which I have saved on a CD. Always fire me up to fly. I hope Il2:BOS series will get there.

Come with me from RC-Kedik

Without HL I don't think I would have played IL2 to the extent that I did. It was a great piece of software.

Hi all,

'Flying for the first time' always annoyed me because it is NOT original, (BNL) and praise was unduly heaped upon him thus! (unless he is...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_-_S0iPR08)

As for other movies, well let's have a laugh...

For sheer genius, and originality, my hat still tips to "The Entertainer", way ahead of it's time, and completely original! (lots of tricks...watch and see)

As for guts 'n grits...as a pilot, this, for some reason always struck home for me...the immersion...the editing...the mission building, and the music...superb!

Yes, there is a musical fau pa!...see if you get it?

Every Canadian IL-2 flier  knows that's Barenaked Ladies cover  :) Ed doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would mind IL-2 using a BNL song anyway.

I thought IL2 was much better in many ways than FB. I remember firing FB up for the first time and the change they'd made was really wierd. Aircraft felt ridiculously light and when I came to land and flared I floated along the runway for nearly the whole length and ended up landing off the end of the runway :D

The feeling of weight was great in the original IL2 and the 109G2 versus P39 was one of the best fights we had providing the P39 pilots knew what they were doing.

Really? The singer always admitted it was a BNL parody, it was only people who didn't know better that thought it was original. I think the guy has a fair amount of talent to write those lyrics and sing it that well.

I couldn't watch the video, I had to turn it straight off due to the terrible song :o: .

That's too bad. You missed out on a lot of witty IL-2 humor and a guy that actually has some decent musical ability. He might be one of the only ones among us who does.
