Willy__ Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hey AbortedMen! Nice feature you have there, it remembers me the supply runs that I once did on Syndicate server. But one thing, what impact the medevac will have on players ? People actually did the supply runs on Synd server because it impact on the number os planes, which was always low, since everyone took off from the pocket, resulting less planes, and I saw a lot of people asking for supply runs because it replenish the number of planes, especially the precious 190, which Pitomnik were the only airfield you could take off with a 190. Although a nice feature, is it practical ? What effect it will have on the players ? Because I know if it doesnt affect the players/number of aircraft/mission, only a few handfull will be doing those medevac missions. Anyways, looking forward to this mission! Cheers!

The medevac feature is the central main objective for the Germans in this mission. ~10-12 medevac flights to the enclosing pocket and back to the originating base some 12-15 minutes away to the southwest will result in a win for the Germans. There are also other objectives planned as well...draining opposing sides fighters, bombing Stalingrad to hell, bombing ports that are supplying Stalingrad, preventing the Russian ground forces encirclement, attacking airfields to greatly diminish aircraft supply, and some others in the works. The supply mechanic for refilling airfields seem to be a bit hit or miss and I want to try a mission that doesn't rely so heavily on it since people that are willing to make a transport run aren't always on the server. 3
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Not gonna lie, that's really cool, AbortedMan. You're doing a pretty huge service to the game, over all.

It really is amazing what some dedicated individuals can come up with given the proper resources. Let's just hope the devs are able to do so!
kestrel79 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Looks awesome. Nice work. Keep the creative missions coming. This is the kinda stuff I love that creates great gameplay variety.
johncage Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 trying for immersion in an mp environment is a futile endeavor. humans are unpredictable. they don't behave like they would in real life sitting behind a monitor. only solution=ai
AbortedMan Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 trying for immersion in an mp environment is a futile endeavor. humans are unpredictable. they don't behave like they would in real life sitting behind a monitor. only solution=ai Disagree. Come play on The Eagle's Nest and join the TWB TeamSpeak...ts3.thewetbandits.org Tons of immersion there, even on the non-game/comms side. Contrary to popular belief, there are humans out there that play MP and like to see realistic/immersive stuff.
reve_etrange Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Which dserver program ... do utilise multi-core? you cannot just flip the proverbial switch and have the game use all your core's , it has to be coded to do so. Maybe one day the dserver or game client will have a headless client mode that can connect to a server and run AI agents, as in ARMA. The advantage of that approach is that it's generally going to be much easier than creating an efficient parallelized server program. 1

Chuck_Owl Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) trying for immersion in an mp environment is a futile endeavor. humans are unpredictable. they don't behave like they would in real life sitting behind a monitor. only solution=ai Ever played the Storm of War multiplayer scenarios in CloD? No? Didn't think so. Virtual squadrons take part in this 80+ player event. Bomber squadrons have bombing objectives, and fighter squadrons are given patrol routes, headings and rules of engagement. There are 2-3 human ground controllers per side using teamspeak whisper channels to communicate with squadron leaders. Every squadron is given a task by the Ground Controllers and people behave like in a real "dead is dead" war scenario. ATCs have access to real-time radar and send squadrons to meet enemy radar signatures like a game of chess. Each squadron is alotted a number of airframes. If they lose them or fail to return them to base for repairs, the squadron just lost a slot for another pilot to take his place. It could hardly be closer to the real deal as that. So, once again, you are talking about things you know nothing about. Edited April 5, 2015 by 71st_AH_Chuck

I loved VEF and what ever the other one was during the Forgotten Battles time. I would love to see this in IL2 BOS
Wandalen Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Nice ! this game is going to be among the best combat flight games in 1-2 years But it reminds me a littlebit of the Rearm and refuel script in il2 COD Edited April 6, 2015 by Wandalen
