No 1941 LaGG and Yak-1 for Battle of Moscow

I think the most important thing to keep in mind is, that while some of the Premium Planes chosen so far may not fit the given battle or even the Eastern Front very well, they are by no means obscure planes that saw little overall service. They are iconic planes of the war which might very well come in handy at a later point.

Premium planes not for the theatre, but for the custumer around the World. P40 for US customer, MC 202 for meditaranean Sim-Pilots. The next Premium plane could be the hurri for all potenial commonwealth customers. Pure PR.

Not pure PR, no. None of the Premium planes are completely outlandish for the Eastern front.

Under this point of view the zero also fit. This imperial japenese plane fights against yak and mig over manchuria. Ok, majortarian PR.

Manchuria '45/Khalkin Gol '39 = completely different theater.

That's like saying the P-51 would also fit because it at some point fought the Luftwaffe.

IAR-80/81 would be by far the better choice then MC202.Used by romanians on eastern front from 1941 till 1944.A must for any scenario based in Moldavia/Besarabia/Odessa/Stalingrad...

FARR=largest german satelite airforce.

Agreed, but the MC.202 might have its uses in 'other places' later ;) Would be great to have the IAR as well though.

Yes,but thats too much into the future.I would like the team to focus on now. After BoM,to get finally to the beginning.I would like to see Barbarossa DLC.2 maps, first somewhere around Lvov salient for northern area of operations and second for Moldavia/Bessarabia/Odessa  ;)

That would indeed be great. If it was up to me, this sim wouldn't be leaving the Eastern Front for the first decade (except perhaps to take a short detour to include the Winter War?) but I realize that this likely won't be the reality. I have little doubt that either the next installment after BoM or the one after that will be taking us to the Mediterrainean. That's alright by me.

I will gladly skip that  :P  ;)

And the old series Russian planes were good in turn fights

you just boom and zoom the hell out of them like the Luftwaffe

pilots did choosing the perfect attack plan and path having

complete control of the engagement due to speed climb and experience.

Beating planes with inferior performance by using patience, discipline, and technological advantages will be the same toddler's first steps into multiplayer in BoM that they were/are in BoS.

One of the many beautiful facets of this game.

When people are ready to take their game up a notch, you either fly Russian or you fly German in support of the ground-war, since cruising around at 8km might be safe, but it's certainly not affecting the outcome of the actual battle below (which is ironic when the guys up dodging weather balloons are usually the first to say "THIS IS THE WAY THEY DONE DID IT BACK THEN!").

Once you come down where the actual war is happening, you hit this magical and mystical zone of Energy Fighting... where German planes still retain the performance edge, but it requires SA and much more finely honed BFM/ACM skills.  And you know what?  It's exhilarating.  But hey, a couple of TS conversations have proven to me that some people are just hard-locked into this BnZ/TnB mentality.

Anyone with a bit of time behind the stick can out-turn a low and slow 109E in an I-16, just like anyone with similar experience can BnZ a LaGG to death in a 190.

Problem is, we see a lot of people get frustrated and squall/ragequit when they get beat in their superior plane because their understanding of reality is challenged.  In the heat of the moment, it's tough to fly/fight AND try to say "Hey man, here's what you did wrong!  Come back, it'll get better."

I guess all I am saying is, don't get too crazy sucking up all that Luftwaffe-superiority Kool-Aid...

This guy did.  Came in with gun pods, energy, position...

I mean, by all means, stay up at 8km+

These guns work on your tanks too.

I know this wasn't your intention but actually the Hurricane was used by Moscow PVO squadrons in the winter of 1941 into 1942 (1 GIAP and 157 IAP, Kalinin Front). Historically accurate choice and wouldn't be a PR move.

It would have been a better choice I do agree. There could be other issues that we may not have considered... are there good technical resources for the IAR80/81? Has the 1CGS team been able to acquire them? It does take a bit to put these things together and aircraft like the P-40 and MC.202 would have tons of resources.... I don't know about the IAR.
