AvengerSeawolf Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) Hi folks as I have planned I just got the game. Run it for a couple of missions after a quick joystick mapping. All I have to say at a glance and over all is Great.!!! At a glance I really like the immersion of the game and the atmosphere, the depth including the graphics and effects ( from animations to bullets hitting a plane and so on). they look so great !!!! Cockpit give me a 3D impression like I am in it. However I cannot enjoy it as I should since there I did not find how to change the field of view.. abd was stuck with the default angle of view.!!Anyone can help with this mapping ?? I have a HOTAS X55 I have assigned a zoom in and out camera but al it does is zoom in and out in external view. Do I miss something here ?? I have also noticed that the flaps move up and down continously ( as long as you press the button assigned) in angles.(??!!) SO for landing I use 45% is this right ? or how should I translate the flaps Looking forward to get the FW as well sooner or latter.!!! I have latelly began to love it cause of it's visibility and armament. Though I was mostly to BF's and non radial engines. Also how does the extra features of a plane unlock ? doing a campaign ? P.S> ( edit/) needless to say that everything from start to finish in installation to loading the game was without any serious flauts or buggs. LAST question .. DO I have to install any patches ? Or I guess these are automatically installed. I love flying first off line in order to learn the game. So wish there were more maps in other seasons but this is something that in planned up I guess. Other than that I noticed that there were not so many options on the graphics department DO I miss somathing here on how to adjust graphics at a more detailed options menu ? I think also that in the controls "department" there should be an option where one can choose which joystick to use. Like for instance in War Thunder where you press that button and sums you up a list with which joystick to use. Edited March 26, 2015 by AvengerSeawolf
6./ZG26_Emil Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 You have to do the campaign to get the unlocks unless you ordered the premium edition. Look through the keymapping for things like FOV your looking under pilot head control and pilot head zoom in/out For landing you should use full flaps More maps are coming! As is a new module the Battle of Moscow Graphics settings are locked to presets for now...hopefully they'll change it

Now how do I disable the motion blurr from the camera when moving around ? H have in the options unchecked the " cinematic" option but never restarted the game to see if that was. Will check out latter. Edited March 26, 2015 by AvengerSeawolf
oneeyeddog Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Correct, unchecking Cinematic will turn off the blur.
dburne Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Correct, unchecking Cinematic will turn off the blur. If it doesn't , stop drinking while you are flight simming! 2
Rjel Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 GL to the OP. One day I'm going to have to track down the disk where I keep the original IL-2 demo. It's about time I share my first impressions too.

SO for landing I use 45% is this right ? or how should I translate the flaps Assign joy button/HAT for Pilot head: zoom in Pilot head: zoom out For default keypad is 1 and * if I remember correct. Keypad #5 reset this ZOOM, is the command Pilot head: reset zoom Assign other joystick button/HAT to this if want. BTW - for each command you can have three different keys or buttons mapped, so is not need change the default assgnement, use the next slot (some people became scared if is need make changes in the "default"). Flaps usage is plane relative, there's no universal "recipe" for all. Some allow progressive drop, others is only full extended or raised... When you have some doubt help if you mention for what plane the advise is needed.
AvengerSeawolf Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks Soko1 I fiddle around with the cameras , I got 3 hat switches on my hotas so I don't have to do multiple assignment. It is a bit confusing but as I said enough buttons here for the task !! Cheers.
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Not sure if you already have this setup, but motion sensor is a must ! [ TrackIR v5 ] this combat flight sim is the best there is !! Happy Strafing .
AvengerSeawolf Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Nope I do not have the Track IR. Seems like it would be a very usefull tool. I will plan getting one. 8 out of 10 dogfights that I lose is the lack of proper tracking where I lose the enemy , cause of looking aroind

I would rank it third on the List of Stuff for Flight Simming, after a good joystick, before rudder pedals. It will change the way you look at simming. 1
AvengerSeawolf Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the tips. I look forward to purchase that track IR. Any differences between the TiR 4 and 5 ? Cause the 4 has a better price and more affordable at the near future for me. This +1000Two must haves:1) Track IR 52) SSD What is SSD ?Thank to all replies will get that track Ir any differences between the 4 and 5 ? Cause the 4 is more affordable for me at the near future. I do not know about ruder pedals , for sure they improve the whole feeling and flying. But at the moment I have to let them pass , due to tight budget. Edited March 31, 2015 by AvengerSeawolf
6./ZG26_Emil Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I'm not sure about the difference, they both have 6DOF. Personally I don't use the pilot head zoom axis on TIR...that I assign to my stick. If I had to fly within stick/peddles/RIR I'd have to go without peddles before TIR although it would be hard to live without either. I simply cannot fly without TIR anymore and would find myself twitching my head constantly...it's the same when I fire up the game and forget to run the TIR software....drives me nuts. SSD is a solid state harddrive. It's not that important but a very very nice luxury. You can boot in to windows in 25 seconds for example and accessing files is far quicker than a regular spinning drive. Always worth checking on ebay for second hand peddles
