Jason_Williams Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 LOL Made you look. Obviously not warbird pistons, but certainly they are flying! Taking a break from moving to enjoy a day at the races. Back in my cockpit soon. Jason 11
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 And this relates to Battle of Stalingrad how..? You know this should have been in the Free Topic board.
Original_Uwe Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Wow, that didn't take long. Moving to moskau Jason?
Jason_Williams Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Not moving to Moscow. Just another part of SoCal. Jason 1
Jason_Williams Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Damn that's a rush hearing those engines! Yes it is. And you feel them too. :-) Makes me want to grab a steering wheel instead of a flight-stick for a bit. Jason 1
Original_Uwe Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Makes me regret not going to march meet at famoso.
JimTM Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Yup, nothing like being there. I remember F1 '97 in Montreal and Champcars at Michigan in '98. The F1 cars were ear-splitting, but the turbo Champcars were super fast.
1CGS LukeFF Posted March 23, 2015 1CGS Posted March 23, 2015 Nice, man! It really was a beautiful day here in SoCal.
HippyDruid Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 That sounds awesome. I love how 'Crazy Train' starts playing right at the beginning too.
Injerin Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 WOW! love it man, I live next to Joliet, IL Chicagoland speedway. Will be hitting that this summer. I fyou ever want to grab a wheel well............... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GRRK5iuqEI iracing is cool
Yakdriver Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) saw the top gear (uk) feature on the subject - and while on the surface its like a thousand cars going in circles... dumb as ship... $ I learned that there is more to the game than that, and agree that F1 could take a few features from NASCAR to really heat the battle up some. More overtaking, more body contact, more sound, and apparently more red meat too. The short fella seemed to like it, even tho he was scared out of his pants. The only thing about NASCAR i would still change, is to give them a classic course with lots of curves - to throw them off their well-studied, boring left-hand track. That i still find a real pity - but its essential to the game. the sound... the sound makes a lot of it worthwhile. Edited March 23, 2015 by Yakdriver
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Why is this still here..?only for you Adler, because your not the boss! What did you do, move out to the inland empire? Rancho Cucamonga or Ontario? Edited March 23, 2015 by 71st_Mastiff 1
Pollux Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Pretty melody Jason... Speaking of piston noise, how do you find those Tiger_33? That's why we need the Mod "On" ROF... Sorry for the off topic. 6
BlitzPig_EL Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 The NASCAR boys do a couple of road races in their season. It's hilarious watching those overweight, under tired, ill handling dinosaurs try to get around a proper sports car circuit. Some of the drivers are quite good, and one should not throw stones at them, however. When they get the chance to drive a proper racing car they are very capable in the cockpit, but there is no incentive for them to jump out of NASCAR as the money there is just too much to turn down. Sadly. So much talent going to waste only turning left. Not to mention NASCAR's ongoing war against any other motorsport series in America.
Knopfler Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Pretty melody Jason... Speaking of piston noise, how do you find those Tiger_33? That's why we need the Mod "On" ROF... Sorry for the off topic. Already seen this video , Tiger 33 he's a great modder .
Knopfler Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I am surprised that no one has blown up in this nascar race
6./ZG26_Emil Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I used to watch BRISCA F1 Stock Car racing when I was younger. Not as glamorous as NASCAR but still V8 coolness

C-Bag Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 What and/or where is SoCal? Southern California, US. From Tahachapi to the southern border with Mexico.

avlSteve Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 LOL when I was a youngster I camped out on the infield at the Daytona 500, circa '78. I'm still hungover from the festivities to this day.

That i still find a real pity - but its essential to the game. the sound... the sound makes a lot of it worthwhile. The Top Gear segment with Hammond going to the Texas speedway was great. NASCAR races are waaaaay more fun in person. The sport is not just about turning left though. There is lots of strategy involved with pit stops, fuel and tweaking the cars. It's a different kind of racing than Indy or F1 and it has it's own appeal. If you went to a race with me and listened to the radio chatter on the headset to understand what was happening behind the visuals you would become a fan. Just ask my wife who never dreamed of being a NASCAR fan and now she is hooked. An interesting bit from this race. All teams had to stop and get gas with about 60 laps left, but because of how the race developed everyone was just 1 or 2 laps short of the finish. You could hear the teams on the radio talking about what to do and who would gamble with an almost empty tank. You don't get to hear behind the scenes chatter in other professional sports which makes NASCAR special. But then there was a series of caution flags and everyone got gas and then as series of cautions happened and then it became who is going to get fresh tires. Some did and some didn't which caused an upset finish in overtime laps. You just never know who will win the race until it is over. Good stuff. Jason
CUJO_1970 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 NASCAR must be experienced live. Last race I went to was at Talladega and it was a pure spectacle.
