LordNeuro*Srb* Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 It would be nice if it could be done to change the look of the pilot and the plane from raw recrute to the veteran. Somthing similar what is done in Red Orchetra 2. Here is an exemple. "The changes between rank are subtle, each one gets a few shades darker and more patchy in certain areas too. So Rattler is some-what correct, but the differences between rank 1 and rank 3+ are noticeable. (Apart from the Hero ranks, rolled up sleeves!)" FlatSpinMan Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sounds good to me - anything that adds a hint of progression.
Lord_Haw-Haw Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Hmm I don´t know, that reminds me of reenactors that think the dirtier you look the better. On the other hand when you look at pictures of the time you seldom find that, except for some exceptions.
LordNeuro*Srb* Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 I meant as a concept and not the exect the same doing, it could be the wetering on plane skins , same changes to the pilot and so on. Probably hard to implement but it could add to the imersion.
Matt Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I don't think that pilots really looked different due to flying many missions. And many German veterans got shot down quite a lot and got new planes or just had to replace their worn out planes or received new variants of planes. I'm overall not a huge fan of excessive weathering in flightsims. For BoS, winter camouflage applied in the field could make up for giving the planes are more weathered look. But i guess everyone will be able to create his own skin to fit his personal level of weathering on his or her skin. Probably not for the pilot, but you'll barely see the pilot anyway (both your own and the enemy). 1
