-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 There was a solar eclipse today over the UK up to 98% coverage, so I thought I could start a thread for anyone that managed to get any pictures etc. Probably quite unlikely that many people managed to see it as there was heavy overcast cloud, if u did get a snap please mention time and location. And just to keep it loosely tided to BOS I was wondering if eclipses are possible, as I know the devs went into a lot of detail with the stars, sun and moon position, I wonder if somebody could find a historic eclipse date for Stalingrad and use the ME to go to that date and time to see if it happens. If this is not there I want a refund lol Peace out

JG300_Olrik Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 80 % coverage here near Paris, but the cloud ceiling did hide the eclipse. Nevertheless, luminosity decreased hardly round 10.30 am and temperature felt down. It was a eighty percent end of the world !
=LD=Penshoon Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Was visible here in Stockholm but kinda cloudy but still an incredible phenomena. A total eclipse was visible from Stalingrad in 1941 on the 21st of September 1941, starting 06:45 and ending 08:03. Can you change to this date and time in the FMB?

Nonolem Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I have saw it here in Grenoble. Light altitude veil of mist, but visible though. Only 70%...I have saw the eclipse in August 1999, I was invited by a friend in Bavaria (a german student, I was at university at this time) where the eclipse was total. Very, very impressive. Two minutes of very dark night during the day.The darkness comes very brutally, as if somebody has just turn off the light.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 The darkness comes very brutally, as if somebody has just turn off the light. It kinda amazing that even though only 10% of the sun was visible where I was there was defo not a 90% drop in the light, More like 5% or even less. You really need for it all to be covered to really notice it. I cant get my head round that!!
sallee Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 We were supposed to have about 93%, but there was little more than a change in the light (which was quite something in itself). Last time I went down to Cornwall to see a total eclipse, but it was 10/10 clouds!
Elem Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 It was overcast here in Bedfordshire but the Sun looked like a disc in the sky. Georgio Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Heavy cloud in Essex so couldn't see the sun let alone any eclipse. Noticed a tiny darkening of the overall light during the time, but unless you knew it was happening you wouldn't have known.

Can you change to this date and time in the FMB? I know this doent line up with the battle of Stalingrad or is 99.9% not in the game(or ever coming) but it would make for an intersting and emersive mission if the lights went out all of a sudden. This could would line up with the BoM thou, so mabe could be put in there as a kinda easter egg for that time and date
