Bussard_x Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I was wondering how everything will be ready for early access October. So far we have only seen a finished LaGG-3 and Bf109F. These still don`t have breaks and no finished damage model. We have not seen a firing aircraft yet, no bombs dropped and no dogfight to judge the AI.
FuriousMeow Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Everything won't be ready. Just because we haven't seen it, doesn't mean it isn't there for the effects but a lot of it will probably be place holders. The AI will likely be RoF's for now, maybe some improvements/refinements. =BKHZ=Furbs Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) The early release is a testing beta period, there will be a limited plane and feature set that will improve as planes and features are finished and added....and.... I CANT BLEEDIN WAIT!!! Edited October 4, 2013 by =BKHZ=Furbs 2

Oesau Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I'd also say (purely a guess mind you) that the beta will be a early beta so there will be a lot of things missing or WIP. I've been a beta tester for ROF since the very start so do personally have a reasonable level of expectations of what the first beta will be like (which will be more feature rich than was ROF as we have the benefit of the years of ROF development).
BeastyBaiter Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 The fall pre-release beta period will be an early beta from the looks of things. If the program doesn't CTD constantly, it's in pretty good shape. I expect the initial content will be very light and possibly be nothing more than a single MP test map + the QMB and only 2-3 planes (Bf-109F4, LaGG-3, IL2 maybe). I too can't wait for it since it means I'll finally be able to off that pile of crap known as WT.

It's built on a tried-and-true engine and the reports from the developers (who have been pretty open about most things, so I trust them on this as well) has been, that even the early alpha was completely stable and has stood up to a good deal of stress tests already. While I expect limited content from the start, I also expect, that we'll quickly be put to testing different builds of the campaign. It's a completely new system, that will need a lot of work, and the team has clearly put a lot of thought into it from an early stage.
Tone71 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I just hope that everyone who has early access is aware of what this means, and that this forum isn't suddenly inundated with posts complaining/moaning/whining about this, that and the other being missing/broken/etc.

Plus im sure the devs will explain what they want us to help with too.
Rjel Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I would guess some will not have a clue at the start what to expect from the Beta or that it even is one. That part should pass quickly if everyone avoids inflammatory posts. Then hopefully everyone can settle in to help with bug squashing and getting solid reports into the developers. 1
DD_bongodriver Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 A lot of uncertainty floating around here, why is everyone so worried? I'm sure everybody will understand the idea of beta, besides for some people whining is a way of bug reporting
Tone71 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 ...besides for some people whining is a way of bug reporting Ha ha, true.

I'm sure everybody will understand the idea of beta, besides for some people whining is a way of bug reporting The OP doesn't seem so sure, i don't think people are worried, its more getting out info to people who maybe have not kept up with development or are coming in late to the party, maybe expecting more than will be ready. Better to be over informed and ready wouldn't you say Bongo?
DD_bongodriver Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Well Furbs, yes, having people explain very very carefully why people should not get over the top with their whini....I mean bug reporting is a very noble and community spirited act, one should be commended for such altruism

Jason_Williams Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Guys, Obviously, the whole game won't be ready for Early Access. Full release is still 6 months away. This will be a slice of what is to come and we will need to test and debug as we move closer to full release. However, there should be a enough to have a lot of fun moving forward. Jason 5
Jaws2002 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Some of the bugs that pop up in early betas are a lot of fun. I've seen a lot of weird/funy stuff in betas over the years.

Heywooood Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 impatient goldbricks...just remember, make sure all the bugs are gone before us silver slackers get in there - and try not to cry too hard when you realize how raw the sim is when you get it...yall seem to have been thinking you are getting first whack at a polished final release and that is NOT the case 2

DoWSiq6Six Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Heck if they let us hop in with 2 planes and a runway I'd be happy! Early-beta access is exactly that. Early beta. I think most with their heads on straight should understand that we aren't getting "first dibs on completed copies" :D This ain't no iPhone preorder ladies!

Matt Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 They meant the meteorological autumn, which starts 1st September and ends on 30th November. So it's actually much less than that.
