GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 A friend sent me pictures of their visit to the Chino Air Show. Lots of Corsairs, some Lightnings, a Thunderbolt, a Firefly (I didn't know there were any flying in the US!), *Cats, Mustangs, Spits, some Zeros, a Val or two, some race planes and some armor... I grew up near Chino.. As a kid P38s, P51s, B25, F4u, F6F, Zeros, etc use to fly over my house all the time.. Was no big deal to be outside mowing the lawn or feeding the horses and to 'hear' that sound, look up and wa-la a WWII plane was flying by. As a kid I figured this is the way it was everywhere.. It wasn't until I got older that I realized how lucky I was to be living next to one of the biggest WWII plane restoration places in the country. As a mater of fact, about the only thing I miss about living in CA is Chino! 1
Cybermat47 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Great pics! The Val isn't actually a Val though, it's a plane painted up to resemble one. I don't think any D3A1s survived the war. Still, great to see a plane from Tora! Tora! Tora!. I love that movie. Oh, and the artwork on that B-25 was... interesting. EDIT: I'm pretty sure I saw that Jagdpanther 38(t) on eBay recently...
