Ace_In_Exile Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Hi pilots! As the title suggest, i need help choosing my new controller. T16000M for its sensors or the TFlight HOTAS X because it's an Hotas stick? Thanks on advance for the help! Regards
oneeyeddog Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I'm unfamiliar with the Tflight Hotas X but I have used a TM 16000 and found it to be a very good, very accurate joystick. It uses hall effect sensors a feature usually found in Joysticks that go for a lot more money. I would go for the 16000 and get a separate throttle at some point.
Sokol1 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 The major difference - despite the "HOTAS" format of HOTAS X - is the use off HALL sensor (same used in Warthog) in T.16000M X and Y axis. HOTAS X still using conventional (low cost) potentiometers, subject to wear and cause spikes on response. If you are in Europe can consider the Defender Cobra M5, similar price and features of T.16000M and less "toy" visual.
JG4_sKylon Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Had Tflight Hotas and then the T16000M. I definitely recommend the T16000, my aiming improved dramatically when i replaced the Tflight.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 The Flight Hotas X's advantage is it's basicly the low cost HOTAS on market. If you appreciate a seperated throttle and want a one.that-can-do-it-all package it's probably one of the best choices. It's longlivety although is very limited as sensors and materials waer out quickly after 1-2 years of extensive use and the stick movement range is quite poor. As I knwo from squad mates the T.16000 has unbeatable precision in it's price class and is technically superiour to the TM Hotas X due to it's hall sensors. SO overall it's the better one to go given you can live wihtout a throttle quadrant or buy one seperately.
Porkman Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I went with the HOTAS x for its price and the fact that it has throttle which can separate. So far I have been happy with its performance for the price. My keyboard fits nicely between throttle and stick. I had to really play with the sensitivities in BOS settings to dial it in for my liking but now it flies really well for me in this game. I'd be happy to share my settings to anyone who pm's and asks. I am using twist rudder and have no complaints. 2
dburne Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 You can also use the TARGET software with the T16000, if creating customized joystick profiles for your sims is your thing. I use it for my Warthog and love it, very powerful in what it can do.
Mabroc Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I had tried quite a lot of joysticks on during my sim life (started on a Commodore 64), I currently have a Saitek X-55 (previous one a trusty Saitek X-52 still going strong after 5 years of abuse, I gift it to a friend) and even thought I was happy when I converted to a HOTAS system from an excellent MS Sidewinder Precision 2 (I bought 3 of these suckers:1 to my father, 1 to me that broke some triggers after several years and another to replace it) sometimes I missed it by its shear simplicity and response. When the one on my father hands kicked the bucket I tried to find another one but MS is idiotic on his treatment of gaming hardware, they created excellent products since the 90's but they discontinued a lot of them without a proper replacement after some years (even only 2 years in some cases) on the shelves. So I did some research and bought 2 T16000 (one for my father and another for backup for me or him). Best single joystick ever! Very similar to the MS ones in shape (still they were a little better with a bigger base to grip IMHO) but more precise. Two months ago I gifted a copy of BoS on steam to my father and helped him to setup and calibrate his PC (he doesnt speak english neither know about PC tweaking) and made 3 flies on a quickmission fight in a Bf-109F4 against a ACE LaGG-3 to calibrate trackir and response curves on the joystick. Took only a couple of tries (and deaths) to do it and I got him good on the third fly overflying him with ease because of the good response and precision of the joystick, I was already in total control of the plane even thought I didnt try a T16000 in years, and never more than for testing and setting the thing on my father PC. Hell I still trying to get that precision and ease on the X-55, but the lots of buttons, throttle stick and sliders are a big help so I still prefer a HOTAS system. So, because of price and excellent response I would go for the T16000, then when you are tired of hitting the keyboard for all the extra commands of the sim, get a good HOTAS system (start saving, they are a bit pricey you know)
6./ZG26_Custard Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I have used a fair number of sticks over the years but I am currently using the X55 (Throttle and Stick) and the T.16000M. I still don't use rudder pedals so the cost and the fact that you have to use them for the Warthog put me off buying it. I have used the Warthog at a friends and although it is a finely crafted bit of kit I personally think that from a "control" point of view the 16000M is just as good, at a fraction of the price. I have very few problems with the X55 and find it to be very responsive and with an enormous amount of button functionally (and it is £100 cheaper than the Warthog). I think if you are on a budget then you can't go far wrong with the 16000M.
novicebutdeadly Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I went from Logitech "extreme" to the T.16000M, and found that the stick on the T.16000M was more vertical and so I had issues with using the twist axis for the rudder. On the whole though def prefer the T.16000M as you can change it from left to right for the grips, or remove them altogether. On the whole it will come down to personal preference, cost, and how much you are going to get into the game (looking to buy rudder pedals etc in the future).
Ace_In_Exile Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks to everyone who answered to my topic! I've ordered on Amazon the T16000M for 45 Euros, i'll recive it soon. Thanks guys!
Uriah Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I have the T16000M. Used it to replace a MSFFB2 stick that I have set up on my older PC. Yesterday I went a played BOS on the old PC with the MSFFB2 stick. I was shocked at how much I prefer the T16000M. By the way. I also have a CH THROTTLE QUADRANT (6 levers) and rudder pedals. I fly from and easy chair with the stick sitting on a clip board on my lap and the keyboard resting on one chair arm and the CH THROTTLE QUADRANT resting beneath my left hand. On the far left levers I have prop pitch and throttle which I can control together. It is seamless. And I have found (as suggested by others) to give the throttle full or near full amount and control the speed of the plane and RPMs by moving the prop pitch. Point is this a bit more like an actual cockpit as many fighter planes had prop pitch and throttle next to each other and controllable by one hand at the same time. I like it!
Ace_In_Exile Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 My new T16000M is arrived today, i've already tested with Il2 Bos and i'm really satisfied because it's really accurate and smooth. Thanks to everyone who helped me to choose this beauty! But.. i've another (the last) question, could someone share his own profile for BoS? 'Cause i don't know why, the TARGET's profile made by Thrustmaster doesnt work for me...

'Cause i don't know why, the TARGET's profile made by Thrustmaster doesnt work for me... I also would like to have a profile for the T16000M FCS, the one provided by Thrustmaster is not for T16000M, its for the HOTAS WARTHOG, that's why is not working.
Thad Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Consider checking out the new Thrustmaster T.16000m FCS HOTAS Controller. I consider it a great 'mid level' HOTAS system. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=thrustmaster+hotas&tag=geminimobiles-20&index=aps&hvadid=22399863&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_614khns2ex_e
