Uriah Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Tonight I met Jupp on teamspeak and he started up his server. He had managed to grab an offline mission of Ghost in the Snow and adapt it to run online. We joined up. He in a bomber of some sort and I in my trust Yak. Now in this server it is almost full real. He did have icons and the mission map but all else was full real. Flying through the snow and the low cloud deck was disorienting but having the icons and map was of great help. We found the target and attacked and then saw some Stukas off in distance. We attacked them. Turning a long story short, Jupp crashed landed but well enough to live. I came back with a new plane and by use of the map and Jupp using flair gun I was able to find him. Later on I attached one of the Stukas he smoked. This was much better than just Normal server and yet for those of us who like icons it was just what I wanted. The combo of team speak and icons and a real mission going on in the server hit the sweat spot for me. 2
No601_Swallow Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Great stuff! It's good that people are starting to crack SP missions and open them up to coop/DF possibilities. It's also cool that we seem to be evolving a little mission building eco-system, with people like Veteran66, Haashashin, Prangster and the other RoF gurus at one end of the spectrum, painting symphonies with object and target lines and, erm, beginners like me mixing other people's metaphors in the shalllow end, while AbortedMan is conducting wild experiments in the TWB thunderstorm...involving (I assume!) dark arts and/or code... Long may it continue!
GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I wish more servers took advantage of the weather.. it is very stunning 1
Jupp Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 ~S~ Uriah & Friends, Thanks for the kind words and good review of our session. It was very fun to share. Today finds me looking over my edits and preparing to share the files with everyone a.s.a.p.! Long may we fly, -Jupp- 1
[TWB]80hd Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Glad you and Pand were finally able to work out why people couldn't connect! I'll drop by next time I see it up.
Jupp Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) ~S~ 80hd, It bears retelling, that it may just be, that a reference made by someone on a thread lost to the wee hours of the morning is what might have been the case. To wit. I believe a had everything set up correctly, ports open on the router, exclusions in the firewall, .sds file filled out with External IP box ticked, .etc....... Then, I read that in RoF it helped if you logged into the full game, at least once, with the 2nd (Dserver) account, something I had not known of or did before. And so, the next day, having discussed that with Panda, lo' and behold, he tried connecting and at long last I am now able to host BoS Multiplayer sessions. Now, now, I have the complete flight sim I had my sights on when I purchased the early access premium edition just about a year ago now. Hoo-Ray! Oh and yes, you sloppy lazy no good for nothing TWB guys are always welcomed to come by my servers just so I can give you an insta-kick. Kidding of course, -Jupp- Edited March 16, 2015 by Jupp
SvAF/F19_Klunk Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I agree on the weather aspect. Got to admit that one of the most exhilarating missions online was on.. I think..Wings of Liberty with full overcast.... Usually there is a HUGE alt difference on other servers where cloud coverage is null to some... Of course we saw action also at hi alt on this missoin, but it REALLY got intense below cloud..... wish we could alter the cloud height though...
No601_Swallow Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 wish we could alter the cloud height though... Cloud height and thickness of the cloud layer seem to be listed in the "me_weather_presets.ini" file in the ...IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\GUI folder. I don't think they can be edited there, though.
