6./ZG26_Custard Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 This may have been covered off in another part of the forum but can anyone recommend a decent plotting tool or overlay for navigation. I have been trying to step up to expert mode (unsuccessfully) but I am fairly useless at navigation and tend to fly around aimlessly until I happen upon a very obvious visual marker. Any tools, help or pointers would be much appreciated. Regards
BlitzPig_EL Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 There is one, but it has to be viewed in a browser, so you can't access it in game, which makes it useless for my single computer set up at home.
Sokol1 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Try NoobsNoobs "Map tools" - calculate distances, bearings, flight times: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13908-map-stalingrad-web-browser/ And you can open in game (SP/MP) using STEAM Browser overlay (no STEAM version of game is need): http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13908-map-stalingrad-web-browser/?do=findComment&comment=219722 Edited March 13, 2015 by Sokol1 1
-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I use and old school map and a mechanical flight computer (can calculate course correction due to wind) that I used for my pilots licence course. It adds to authentic feeling but over kill u could just use speed=distance/time and a regular calculator
avlSteve Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Sweet mother of Perl it would be knockers to have an overlaid compass/protractor and be able to draw your own navigation route on the map. I bet the level of effort would be a real yawner for the likes of 1C/777's crack dev team. Good idea.

I don't know if the Dev's have considered this?

avlSteve Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks for the link! Ditto, glad I stopped by. I see now why it's so low on the priority list. I guess I saw steam and skipped Sokol's post but he said no STEAM version of game is need. Can't wait to try it out.
TG-55Panthercules Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 One of the cool things about Nobby's map app is that you can use it on a tablet or phone - I use it on my iPad so it's like having a knee-board for my map and I don't have to worry about needing to interrupt my game on my PC to use it (even with a Steam overlay). It's definitely very cool.

It's definitely very cool. It's a great plotting tool and I hope that one day the Dev's will look at incorporating Nobby's map ruler into the game. I am still slightly confused on how to correctly use the wind gauge tool though.
