BornToBattle Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) Big bands from the ‘40’s (such as Glenn Miller’s band and their hit In The Mood) and including all the wartime songs from other artist of the time (such as the Andrew Sister’s Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Straighten Up and Fly Right), and other groups and songs like the Ink Spots, Nat King Cole (damn that guy sings smooth) amongst scores of others, There’s also some good stuff out of the ‘50’s with groups like The Chordettes, Chuck Berry and Elvis. Funk (i.e. Rose Royce, Wild Cherry) Rock from the ‘70’s (the ‘80’s pretty much sucked except for a chosen few from the early ‘80’s), Journey, Van Halen, ZZ Top, some music termed easy listening (Sade, Christopher Cross), some love songs when it hits me (such as Sarah McLachlan, Hoobastank with The Reason) and various others like Uncle Kracker and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, House of Pain with Jump Around, Beck and Loser, The Calling with Wherever You Would Go, The Civil Wars and their Barton Hollow), etc., etc., etc. So yeah, I’m pretty flexible when it comes to music. I pretty much run the gamut. Except that twangy country stuff that all sounds the same. Ugh. And opera. Edited February 3, 2020 by BornToBattle

cardboard_killer Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Tunisia is in Africa, not Asia. Why is it "Oriental"?
THERION Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 10 minutes ago, cardboard_killer said: Tunisia is in Africa, not Asia. Why is it "Oriental"? Correct - 10 points for the candidate! What is wrong about "oriental"? It's more of a cultural meaning and not a geographical one - the origin of the terms "oriental" and "occidental" goes back to Roman history to make a difference between two cultural worlds. Cheerio
[CPT]milopugdog Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Not to toot my own horn, but I've been getting more and more into old west coast rock.
Bremspropeller Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Always had to listen to the intro - even when binge-watching. Cool song.
Bremspropeller Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 I imagine driving up the California CA 1 in a convertible at sunset, listening to that song... Springsteen playing "Chimes of Freedom" in front of a quarter-million people of East Berlin in 1988. Some say, the concert was one trigger that lead to the events a year later...
