"icarus Falling" Defensive Maneuver.

I just want to share you a tactic which I call : Icarus Falling

 

You will need some speed and luck. If an enemy is on your six and if he makes a hit on your plane let him think that you are deadly touched with spins, after that take control of your plane and let him pass in front of you.Then you just have to keep an eye on his plane and kill him if you can do it ! It's very important to not make lots of spins because you will loose too much speed and after that you can only runaway.

Hmmm. interesting manoeuvre.

To me that looks like a very weird controlled flat spin. The start of the spin looks weird and more like a normal stall then a controlled flat spin. Then, you suddenly turn it into half a flat spin after which you exit just fine.

A controlled flat spin is used by fighter pilots to loose the plane behind him and possibly get behind the other. Not an uncommon manoeuvre but a very dangerous one.

Most modern fighters don't use it any more (it is simply dangerous and not needed any more) but it was used a lot in WWII. I have even heard of stories where pilots put there plane in a controlled flat spin to loose a lot of altitude quickly.

The manoeuvre is sometimes shown in air shows.

Hm, just looks like a usual spin / flik roll in a dive. Wouldn't actually call that a manouvre but more a spin tbh but it worked well. Nice flying
